Coronation Street fans have made the same claim over Dee-Dee Bailey, as new evidence looks set to seal Joel Deering’s eventual exit from Weatherfield.

Viewers of the ITV soap were left flocking to social media following Monday night’s (September 16) episode after Dee-Dee, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, faced her ex-fiancé after getting some new information about his evil crimes.

As Corrie fans know, Dee-Dee has joined forces with DS Lisa Swain and Lauren Bolton to bring Joel down once and for all after she discovered that he had groomed teenager Lauren before almost beating her to death and getting her pregnant.

Lauren was presumed dead following her sudden disappearance back in February but three months later, a flashback clip revealed at the time that the solicitor as being Lauren’s secret ‘boyfriend’ and saw him brutally attack her with a chair leg.

Then, when she returned to visit an ill Roy in July, Joel accosted her in the hospital where an intense confrontation ensued and the truth about their relationship was exposed.

Now, Joel is currently doing everything he can to evade being nailed by DS Swain for grooming Lauren and later giving her a drug that saw her go into early labour with their son, Frankie.

In the latest trip to Weatherdield, Corrie viewers saw Dee-Dee and Swain trying to convince Ellie, another teenager Joel had groomed and abused, to make an official statement to help them get her and Lauren justice for what he has done to them.

However, a freaked out Ellie refused, claiming Joel would kill her. It wasn’t until she visited Lauren and baby Frankie in the hospital that she had a change of heart and later spoke to Dee-Dee and Swain about what had happened to her – and how it was being covered up by the solicitors he previously worked for.

Dee-Dee later visited the solicitors and managed to quash the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) Ellie had signed and got the owner for the solicitors to agree to give a formal statement. As she confidently returned to Weatherfield, Dee-Dee bumped into Joel and hinted that his days of freedom are numbered.

Later, Dee-Dee and Swain headed to speak to Lauren with Swain revealing permission had been granted to re-open the case into Joel. And before the credits rolled on the latest episode, Dee-Dee exclaimed: “This is the beginning of the end for Joel Deering.”

And fans have been going wild for Dee-Dee’s sassy attitude and hailed her signing, after Channique took on the role back in 2022. @hausofvee said: “Dee Dee is the best addition to Corrie in years. Her and Queen Debbie carrying this show like crazy #corrie.”
