Coronation Street fans have ‘strong feeling’ over who killed Joel Deering – and it’s none of the suspects

The Weatherfield ‘whodunnit’ is still underway after the solicitor’s body was found last month

Coronation Street fans have said they have a ‘strong feeling’ of who they think killed Joel Deering – and it’s none of the suspects curretly unveiled.

The Weatherfield ‘whodunnit’ is still underway after the solicitor’s body was found last month. Joel hasn’t been seen on-screen – in real time – since the end of September when he failed to show for his court appearance.

He’d been charged with buying the drugs that forced Lauren Bolton’s early labour of their son, Frankie, with the intention of forcing her to miscarry. He was desperate to hide the fact he’d been grooming the teen for months, leading to her disappearance and presumed death earlier this year.

After he didn’t show in court, a warrant was issued for Joel’s arrest but after transferring money to Lauren and his ex-wife Emily, and leaving an emotional voicemail for his former fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey, Joel’s car was found abandoned and it was quickly believed he may have taken his own life.

Dee-Dee didn’t believe that to be the case and encouraged DS Lisa Swain and Kit Green to continue digging. And after Lisa was removed from the case due to Joel’s involvement with her teenage daughter Betsy, Kit has found himself leading a murder investigation.

Joel’s body was found floating down a river before it was confirmed he’d been killed with a heavy weapon before entering the water. So far, Corrie viewers have seen scorned ex-Dee-Dee, her dad Ed and her uncle Ronnie put in the frame, as has DS Lisa Swain, whose daughter Betsy was wrapped up with Joel and discovered he’d threatened to kill the teen, Mason Radcliffe and Carla Connor.

The case’s leading investigator, Kit, has now also been teased as being involved in Joel’s demise after he sparked suspicion last week when he removed his own details from a spreadsheet of potential suspects after Swain suggested that a red car may be connected to Joel’s murder before during Monday night’s (November 4) Corrie, a flashback showed Kit confronting an injured Joel on the side of the road, who made it clear that he knew Kit had planted evidence on Nathan Curtis while Lauren was missing.

But some Corrie fans think that none of the current suspects will be revealed as the murder after it was confirmed the truth will out in scenes to air next week.

@jamienopt said: “Michael I’m thinking, was the first person to not trust Joel.” @johnneladderley replied: “I have a strong feeling it’s him.” Others, however, find it strange another name has yet be added to the mix.” @Daniell57812031 added: “I find it crazy that lauren hasn’t been a suspect yet especially with her past history with Joel #Corrie.”
