It came as they hailed Carla Connor’s real ‘special bond’ on the cobbles following her latest health scare

Coronation Street fans have momenterily ‘gone off’ DS Lisa Swain as they hailed Carla Connor’s real ‘special bond’ on the cobbles following her latest health scare.

The year ended when a stressed-out Lisa revealed that they had a burst pipe and the flat is flooded before Carla invited her and Betsy to stay for new year. As Lisa and Betsy moved into her flat, Carla spotted some files relating to Lisa’s partner Becky’s death amongst Lisa’s things which left her feeling awkward.

Lisa later surprised Carla with a romantic lunch in the café, but the mood was broken when she received an urgent call to an incident. As Carla informed Kit, he also received an urgent request for back up at the same address. Once back on the street, and sporting a bruised face and split lip, Lisa assured Carla she was fine and ready for a drink and when in the Rovers, after the countdown to 2025 had finished, Carla revealed her love for her new partner.

But as the new year got underway in Wednesday night’s (January 1) Corrie, Roy Cropper was left concerned about Carla when she started hearing things and looking confused. He suggested she go home and get some rest but, increasingly worried about her, he let himself into her flat to find her barely conscious on the living room floor.

He called an ambulance and once in the hospital, the doctor told Roy that he suspected Carla may be suffering from sepsis. Meanwhile, Lisa was unaware of the drama unfolding as she follows a newly released Matty and confronted him in the precinct, demanding he tell her where he was the night Becky was killed. As he made comments about ‘Bex’ saying how she wouldn’t be proud of her, Lisa lunged at Matty before being caught and warned off by Kit.

Later, as she lay in her hospital bed, Carla made a big decision about her relationship with Lisa. While on the phone, she lied and said she was at the airport preparing to head to Ireland to see Michelle Connor which came after Carla panicked about Lisa losing her, given that she also lost her wife Becky, and decided to end their relationship.

But it seems the latest scenes have left some angry at Lisa while praising Roy for his continued support of Carla. @me_and_my_headphones_ said: “Carla is one of my faves. Lisa can do one though! We all need a Roy in our lives.” @tracy.c70 commented: “This relationship between Carla and Roy has you believing that they are really Father and Daughter, absolutely fantastic acting by both.”
