Coronation Street fans have been left distracted by Mick Michaelis as they think the new character has a striking resemblance to a former resident.

The newcomer, played by actor Joe Layton, arrived in Weatherfield last week as he followed wife Lou to the cobbles to move into their new home.

Mick and Lou, played by Farrel Hegarty, are part of a new family set to shake-up the cobbles as they’ve been described as ‘nightmare neighbours’ who are willing to make life hell for anyone who dares to cross them.

In their most recent scenes, Corrie fans have seen the couple moving into Mawdsley Street at the back of Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown’s house, which is the first time ever Corrie have extended the serial drama across the ginnel.

During Monday’s (February 17) episode of the ITV soap, Mick was seen enlisting the help of Chesney Brown to move into their new abode while Lou continued to strike up a friendship with Gemma.

But later, Mick and Lou got into a huge row after showing up at their neighbours’ house unexpectedly. While Mick initially tried to pin him breaking Lou’s vase on Chesney, the latter denied it was his fault, leaving Lou furious.

Following their heated row, Chesney advised Mick, who he still doesn’t know is the man in the van that has been targeting him for months, make it up with Lou, telling them not to throw their relationship away. Mick asked Chesney if he could borrow some money for some flowers to which Chesney agreed.

With flowers in hand, Mick and Lou made amends back at Gemma and Chesney’s house. The new couple then quickly became passionate in front of the pair, forcing them to flee to the kitchen.

Corrie fans were quick to flock to social media to share their thoughts on the new couple as they fear for their new friends, all while being distracted by how much Mick reminds them of the late Paul Foreman.
