Daisy Midegeley’s pregnancy isn’t the only one unfolding on-screen as they were given a fresh update

Coronation Street fans say they ‘completely forgot’ that Daisy Midegeley’s pregnancy isn’t the only one unfolding on-screen as they were given a fresh update on Dee-Dee Bailey.

The local legal expert, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, is currently preparing to become a first-time mum. Dee-Dee had quite a turbulent end to 2024 having discovered her fiancé Joel Deering was a serial groomer.

Joel arrived on the cobbles in September 2023 as a charming solicitor who Dee-Dee soon fell head over heels in love with. But under his smooth exterior, Joel was hiding a dark secret – a penchant for younger, underprivileged girls – including Lauren Bolton.

Over the best part of a year, Joel went undetected, even when Lauren went missing and returned pregnant with his baby. When the truth did eventually come out, Joel quickly found himself as public enemy number one as Dee-Dee teamed up with DS Lisa Swain to bring him down once and for all.

But as fans know, Joel disappeared before justice could be done and it was later presumed he had taken his own life. But, after his body washed up in a lake and was found by a bunch of teenagers, it was confirmed he had been killed with a heavy weapon before entering the water.

Several Weatherfield residents were put in the frame but it was finally revealed that it was Lauren who dealt the final blow that killed Joel as he attacked her boyfriend Max Turner in a train track confrontation.

It was also in November that it was revealed Dee-Dee was pregnant with Joel’s baby, and a flashback confirmed he knew before his death. The solicitor then battled over whether to keep the baby or not due to it being Joel’s child. However, with Frankie, Joel’s son with Lauren, became sick, she decided to keep the baby.

New spoilers for next week’s Corrie give a renewed focus on Dee-Dee’s pregnancy. Ed Bailey tells his daughter Dee-Dee that he hopes she won’t regret her decision to have her baby adopted. Dee-Dee assures him it’s the right thing to do.

And following the update on what’s to come in Weatherfield, fans seemed confused. One on Facebook said: “I completely forgot that DeeDee was pregnant…” Another said: “Me too we’ve not seen her for a while.” A third replied: “Me too! Should be about to deliver…”
