Coronation Street actors Jack P Shepherd and Jacob Roberts have waded into the reaction of their on-screen rivalry intensifiying ahead of dramatic scenes.

As fans of the ITV soap know, the pair play David Platt and Kit Green and it’s only over the Christmas period that the pair have come to blows after it was revealed Kit had slept with David’s wife Shona Platt.

The couple are currently in turmoil after Shona slept with the detective constable following a row with David about why he kept communications from her son Clayton Hibbs from her before his attempt to take his own life.

Over Christmas, David returned to to his old ways as he tricked Adam Barlow into drinking with him as he accused him of having an affair with Shona. They then took the matter outside the flat and drunk, Adam fell down the stairs with Shona and Sarah Platt finding him at the bottom with bloody injuries.

Sarah vowed to stay with her ex-husband as help arrived while David and Shona headed back to the wedding – but not before heading home first where a row ensued over Shona’s infidelity and David’s lack of care for her over her son, Clayton Hibbs, who recently attempted to take his own life when he thought his mum wanted nothing to do with him, as per David’s words to him in prison.

Later, as Gail Platt was seen saying one last goodbye to her family, following her wedding to Jesse Chadwick, outside No.8 Coronation Street, where she has spent much of her five decades in Weatherfield, David was seen being confronted by Kit Green after he saw him with Adam after the accident. He then issued him a word of warning over his relationship with Shona, and made it clear he was the one she slept with.

Since then, David has been missing from his family and viewers saw Shona on a desperate mission to find her husband, amidst dealing with a smug Kit. Max and Lily were wondering where their dad had gone, with Shona trying to hiding the truth about why Daivd has failed to return home.

During Monday night’s (December 30) Corrie, David was seen back on the street and behind the wheel of his car, he put his foot down as he saw Kit wandering across the cobbles. It led to a confronation between the pair before they later came face-to-face again. This time, Kit saw red and smashed his own windscreen before blaming it on David, saying he was under arrest.

Sarah and Shona soon saw what was going on and he let David go. The crossed words continued between the pair and later, Kit was seen meeting up with Radcliffe brothers Matty and Logan, telling them that if they wanted to go after David over the money he stile from gangster Harvey Gaskell then they are free too as he’s no longer protecting him.

Clips of Kit and David’s latest altercations wee shared on social media after the episode and the actors were quick to respond. While Jack, who will soon be celebrating 25 years on the cobbles, commented on the post: “Just wait,” Jacob, who made his debut in Weatherfield as Bernie Winter’s long-lost son earlier in 2024, added: “Deserved it.”
