Coronation Street Daniel Brocklebank’s co-star ‘gutted’ as he’s supported over ‘stepping out of comfort zone’

The actor, who is best known for playing Weatherfield’s Billy Mayhew, was seen taking on a new role

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has been supported by his castmates as he took on a role away from the long-running show.

The actor, who is best known for playing Weatherfield’s Billy Mayhew, revealed back in December that he had signed up for a role away from his main job and confirmed he’d be making a return to the stage in Figaro: An Original Musical.

After recently spending time in London preparing, on Monday (February 3), the time had finally come to perform. Taking to Instagram with a snap from his dressing room, Daniel said: “Well, it’s definitely happening… It’s almost showtime!! So excited for you to see @figaromusical at @thelondonpalladium!!!”

It was then on Wednesday (February 5) that Daniel confirmed his short stint in his new role was over. Sharing a picture of him on stage alongside a number of reviews, the soap star said: “As we close our run of @figaromusical @thelondonpalladium I cannot express how much working with this incredible team has done for me.

“I’ve loved every second of stepping out of my comfort zone. I’ve been gifted with being surrounded by the most generous, genuine people. It’s been a joy to be back on stage. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for this experience.”

Corrie co-stars Georgia Taylor and Jane Danson were among those to go and watch Daniel’s performance, with Georgia commenting on his social media post: “So happy we got to see you darling. So proud of you.” Former co-star Peter Ash, meanwhile, replied: “Gutted I couldn’t make it! Sounds like it was a triumph!”

Daniel’s partner Jordan Coulthard also showed his support, writing: “You were amazing babe. I’m so in awe of you. I love you,” while actress Kym Marsh shared: “How wonderful babe.” Hollyoaks actor and former EastEnders star Jonny Labey then added: “DEAD PROUD!!!”
