He issues her with an offer as the former couple reunite for the first time in years in the ITV soap

Coronation Street has confirmed that Tracey Barlow and Rob Donovan will be reunited in upcoming scenes after eagle-eyed fans spotted a potential reunion in a previously shared trailer.

As fans of the ITV soap know, Carla Connor was rushed to hospital with sepsis and was later informed by a doctor she’d have to undergo a kidney transplant, which ended up kickstarting a chain of events to bring Rob back into her life.

After not wanting her family to consider being donors, Rob was approached by his son, Bobby Crawford, who encouraged him to help his older sister as her life hung in the balance and while he did eventually agree to be a donor, he intentions weren’t as genuine as he made out.

Fast forward to being confirmed as a match and undergoing the operation, Carla was woken from her recovery by prison officer Mandy, who believed she was in a loving relationship with Rob, when really it was all for his own gain as he plotted to escape prison.

Things came to a head as once Mandy, who confirmed she was pregnant with Rob’s baby, realised she had been used, she left and Rob tried to follow. But Carla mustered the strength to rush at him and sent him flying down the stairs to the ground.

DS Lisa Swain confirmed Rob to be dead and her main concern was getting Carla back to the hospital. But when the police eventually arrived at the scene, Rob was gone and he’s been on the run since.

A trailer has since been released that teases what’s to come on the cobbles in March, which has confirmed Rob’s shock return to the Street. He will return to Weatherfield to seek out his sister Carla and demand she helps him escape.

But it’s now been revealed how Rob will reach his showdown with Carla – and his former fiancee Tracy is involved.

According to new spoilers for next week’s Corrie, when Lisa reveals that Betsy is too scared to leave the flat while Rob is on the loose, Carla offers to take the day off and look after her. But when there’s a crisis at the factory she heads out. Alone in the flat, Betsy’s terrified when the door buzzer goes.

Later, as Carla drops Roy Cropper off at the hospital, she spots Rob’s prison guard, Mandy. Carla orders Roy to keep an eye on her while she calls Lisa. As Mandy heads out of the hospital car park, Carla and Lisa set off in pursuit.

Meanwhile, back on the Street, Tracy is shocked to come face to face with Rob in the ginnel. Rob eventually persuades Tracy to meet up with his contact and collect his fake passport, but Mary Taylor watches intrigued as Tracy accepts a package in the ginnel.

As she urges Rob to get going, they’re startled by Mary hammering on the door. Rob tries to make his escape but his legs give way and he screams in pain.

Tracy manages to get rid of Mary but when she enters the kitchen she’s horrified to see Rob lying on the floor. Then, when Rob suggests that they should leave together and start a new life, Tracy’s stunned.

Speaking about Tracy’s shock at facing Rob, actress Kate Ford said: “She can’t believe it, but at the same time she’s still got a bit of a soft spot for him, so she does let him come into the house without much persuasion.

“But she is shocked to see him, she can’t believe it. She doesn’t want to get involved in it, but she just feels bad that she’s not helping him because at a time they were in love. I don’t think she feels like that for him anymore but she acknowledges that he came back for her when he burst into the courtroom. She feels she owes him this but she says one night then you have to leave.”

And it seems it doesn’t take much for Tracy to agree for help. Asked if her beloved character needed persuading, Kate shared: “A little bit, but not really. She says I’ll do this for you for one night but that’s it. However then he starts to want more and to stay longer and that starts to really stress her out.”

But is it because feelings are still there between the former husband and wife-to-be? “I think she’s moved on, those feelings for him are long gone,” Kate admitted.

And so his suggestion they run away together comes as a surprise. “She can’t believe what he’s talking about, she just thinks it’s crazy,” Kate revealed.

“He’s got a gaping hole in the side of his body and some sort of infection and she just thinks he’s lost his mind. He needs to get to the hospital, he’s not talking sense. I think it would take a lot to persuade her at this point.”
