Coronation Street confirms new family to ‘stir up trouble’ – but it’s bad news for Kit

Coronation Street is set to welcome a new family on the cobbles – and they are going to “cause a lot of damage and chaos”

A brand new family is set to cause drama on Coronation Street, it has been confirmed.

The long-running ITV show has welcomed a slew of families over the years. From the Platts to the Barlows, several clans have made Weatherfield their home and become a hit with the soap’s loyal legion of fans.

However, it has now been revealed that Coronation Street is welcoming a brand new addition – with a new family set to “cause a lot of damage and chaos”.

Speaking to Plymouth Live, Corrie’s new boss Kate Brooks confirmed the family: “They are Mick and Lynn, they are coming to live at the back of Chesney’s [Brown].

“They are livewires, they are ruffians and they are going to cause a lot of damage and chaos. There is a link to Chesney initially, but they are coming to stir up a lot of trouble.” The boss shared how the couple have kids and “develop a friendship with Chesney and Gemma”. But the boss warned: “There are other things to unpack.”

And it seems the new family’s arrival will ruffle the feathers – including one resident in particular: bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Kate said: “They are also coming to open up the floodgates and unpack the past of one of our big characters, which is Kit [Green].”

Branding the new family “neighbours from hell” Kate described them as “coming in with oodles of drama”. But the clan are not total villains. Kate explained: “They have got a charm to them as well, they are not just just inherently unlikeable characters, they have got a charisma they’ve got charm. But they just do and say things that you shouldn’t say or do!”

The boss also added: “I wouldn’t get on the wrong side of them though, especially Mick. They are coming to cause some chaos on the street, and the will be a trail of devastation let’s just say.” And as for when fans can expect them to make their debut on screens, Kate revealed it will be around February time.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
