Coronation Street confirms Betsy Swain’s involvement in Rob Donovan storyline as body found

As fans of the ITV soap know, Rob has been on the run ever since he survived a fall from a height

Coronation Street has officially confirmed how Betsy Swain will find herself in upcoming drama with Rob Donovan following plenty of speculation from fans.

As fans of the ITV soap know, Rob has been on the run ever since he survived a fall from a height when his sister Carla Connor fought back during her kidnap horror, which took place in scenes aired last month (February).

Carla was recovering from a kidney transplant when the horror unfolded, after Rob only agreed to be a donor in order to escape prison where he’s been behind bars for killing Tina McIntyre back in 2014.

He was going to use his stay in hospital as a chance to do a runner with the help of prison officer Mandy, who he was in a relationship with to help further his escape plans. But after the transplant, when DS Lisa Swain refused to help him like she said she was, Rob turned to seeking revenge.

Rob uses DS Lisa Swain to get to the abandoned warehouse where Mandy was waiting with a poorly Carla. But in an unexpected twist, Carla informed him about his unborn child, leaving him shocked to find out about Mandy’s pregnancy.

Once realising she had been used, Mandy left and Rob attempted to follow suit. But Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs and a weakened Rob as a result of his surgery saw him fall over the balcony, with Lisa finding him at the bottom.

Lisa declared Rob dead and prioritised getting Carla back to the hospital. But when Kit Green returned to the scene, he was told Rob has gone. Carla is now back at home after the ordeal but things still aren’t plain sailing for Carla and her family as Rob’s still on the run.

But it has since been revealed in dramatic trailer for March on the cobbles that Rob will return to Weatherfield to seek out his sister Carla and demand she helps him escape. As armed police surround the house, will Carla and Lisa escape? As a shot rings out, who is the latest victim of Rob’s desperate bid to be a free man?

New spoilers for next week’s Corrie has now revealed more details about the lead-up to the armed siege. When Lisa discovers Betsy’s bed hasn’t been slept in, she’s thrown into panic.

As the teen returns home, hungover, Lisa’s relieved and explains that with Rob on the loose, it’s not safe to go out alone. But Betsy’s dismissive and heads back out.

In the precinct, Betsy becomes aware that she’s being followed. She sets off at speed, but the man gives chase and viewers will see that it’s Rob.

Later, Lisa breaks the news to Carla that they’ve found a body near the hospital and they think it might be Rob. At the mortuary will. Carla confirm the body is that of her brother?
