Coronation Street Cassie Plummer’s downfall ‘sealed’ as character learns truth

Coronation Street’s Cassie Plummer is facing an almighty downfall as she continues to target ITV soap legend Ken Barlow, with new teasers hinting at drama ahead

There could be explosive scenes on the way on Coronation Street, as one character faces their comeuppance.

Cassie Plummer is playing a dangerous game, drugging and targeting ITV soap legend Ken Barlow in a bid to get her hands on his money. From being treated to loans and luxury holidays, not to mention her using his credit card for shopping sprees and gadgets, Cassie has tricked him into providing her with everything she could possibly want.

But the walls are closing in on Cassie, and one character in particular could be behind her big downfall. It’s not current nemesis Tracy Barlow or any of Ken’s other relatives that could be the catalyst of her comeuppance though.

In fact it’s a returning character and someone related to Cassie herself who could lead the way. Cassie’s mum Evelyn Plummer has taken some time away from the cobbles, launching her university studies.

She’s moved away, but she’s coming back very soon – and it seems she could learn the truth. A source told the Mirror recently that Evelyn could be very much linked to Cassie being rumbled, and fans will likely be thrilled.

It’s not long now until her true actions come to light, and according our source there’s big scenes ahead. They spilled that there could be “consequences” for Cassie, while teasing Evelyn’s reaction to what her daughter’s been up to.

It appears Evelyn makes a visit to the street and while there, she realises what has gone on. The whole family “is at the heart of the drama” it seems.

Our Mirror insider shared: “There’s some really family-focussed scenes ahead, and some twists and turns that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats!” Corrie boss Kate Brooks recently hinted at what was ahead for the plot, telling The Mirror what fans can expect across the year.

Kate told us: “That will continue. Cassie is great to have with the Barlows, she causes such fun, and I love her relationship with Ken, which is just wonderful. There will be a lot more of that.

“The friendship is genuine and real, but Cassie has had a bad life. She’s had a terrible upbringing. She’s made mistakes in the past and it’s sometimes hard to shake off that persona. That’s what we’ll see with Cassie. She’ll be struggling with the good angel and the bad angel on her shoulder, and which way is she going to go?

“She does stir up a lot of trouble and a lot of bother, not just with the Barlows but within No.9 as well. So, Cassie and Ken, keep your eyes on them because it’s going to get good!”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
