Alison King has become a soap icon since joining Coronation Street in 2006
Coronation Street icon Alison King, known for her role as the formidable Carla Connor, has a past romance with an ex-Corrie star who once said he “loved her to death”.
Alison, 51, became a household name after joining the ITV soap in 2006 and has since become synonymous with her character’s tumultuous life on the cobbles.
Her portrayal of Carla, the resilient boss of Underworld, has seen her involved in numerous high-profile storylines, from passionate affairs to personal struggles with alcoholism, ensuring that her time in Weatherfield has been anything but dull. Alison’s talent has not gone unnoticed, earning her critical praise and accolades such as Best Actress at the 2012 British Soap Awards.

Before her days in Coronation Street, Alison graced other shows like Brookside and the Sky One drama Dream Team, and even had a stint as a model featuring in Daz adverts during the late ’90s.
Off-screen, Alison’s personal life is more stable than Carla’s; she’s a devoted mother to her daughter Daisy, born in 2006, whom she shares with former fiancé and Coronation Street sound technician Adam Huckett. The pair split in 2012 without ever making it down the aisle.
Moreover, Alison also had a five-year relationship with Philip Middlemiss, known for his role as Des Barnes on Corrie. They reportedly met in a bar in Tenerife in March 1995, and by November 1996, their relationship was flourishing, reports Lancs Live.

In an interview with the Scottish Daily Record, Philip expressed his deep affection, saying: “I’ve never been happier. She is a wonderful girl. I love her to death.”
However, in 2000, it was reported that the two had called it quits. As IMBD reports, Phillip said: “I was in love with Allie. She’s the only person I’ve ever really loved. But she was working in London and I was in Manchester. In another life, if I had been a bus driver and she had worked at the local baker’s shop, we would have got married and had kids by now.”
In November 2018, Alison was pictured with a “mystery man” and was later identified as David Stuckley. The IT expert was nine years younger than Alison and a year later they announced their engagement in OK! Magazine.
In May 2022, it was reported that the pair had called it quits. The Mirror said that Alison and David “grew apart” during lockdown and the pandemic caused “havoc” to their Greek wedding plans.
