Coronation Street has confirmed a new pregnancy twist for one character on the ITV soap, as Christmas Day saw Daisy Midgeley discover she was pregnant – but who is the father?
There’s a new baby plot on Coronation Street as Daisy Midgeley learned she was pregnant on Christmas Day.
It seems there’s a paternity bombshell on the cards too, after Daisy’s fling with ex Daniel Osbourne and her romance with Kit Green. Daisy was left reeling in a scene on Wednesday night, as she took a pregnancy test and it was revealed to be positive.
She quickly hid the test when Jenny Connor tracked her down and asked for her help, also not telling her she was pregnant. There was no more about the storyline in the episode, with there no doubt more to come.
But who is the father, Kit or Daniel? Might it even be someone else? Viewers will no doubt be sharing their theories about it ahead of the big reveal.
It could be Daniel though, given there were hints by Corrie boss Kate Brooks recently that their love triangle with Daniel’s partner Bethany Platt would continue. She also suggested mistakes would come back to haunt them, clearly the mistake being him cheating on Bethany.
So will Daisy’s pregnancy lead to Bethany uncovering the truth? After all, Bethany will soon be leaving the soap when actress Lucy Fallon takes maternity leave.

Perhaps Daniel finds out about the baby and is revealed to be the father, and he chooses to be with her. Could a heartbroken Bethany flee Weatherfield as a result amid Daniel proposing?
Then again Kit could be the father, and perhaps a Daniel and Daisy reunion isn’t on the cards. Kate recently told The Mirror: “They’ve been circling each other for a while, that love triangle is brilliant, it’s a love triangle that keeps on giving and we will certainly carry that through through December and into the new year.
“Daniel is in love with two women, that’s what it boils down to, he loves Bethany but he also loves Daisy, and not many people can pull that of, but if anyone can, a Barlow can, and he is absolutely torn over what to do for the best, and it’s ultimately his head over his heart.
“But he wants to be with Bethany, he wants to channel his love and his future with Bethany, but sometimes when you make a little mistake, things can come back and bite them on the bums, so that’s essentially what we’re doing with that triangle. For me, the rivalry between Daisy and Bethany is fantastic, it’s so fun to watch, again, feels nice and soapy which I think is what we want to do with that story.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
