Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) in Coronation Street was never going to get away with drugging Ken Barlow (William Roache) forever.

Before 2024 ended, Cassie was gutted when Ken informed her that he no longer needed her help as a carer. Away from the friendship she had built up with Ken, Cassie realised that meant her income would stop.

In order to prevent this from happening, she started drugging the iconic Weatherfield resident. It meant that Ken would often fall unwell, allowing Cassie to carry on looking after him.

As Cassie’s plot has developed, she’s also taken to gaining access to Ken’s bank account details.

In upcoming episodes, her new iPad arrives but Cassie quickly hides it from Steve (Simon Gregson), not wanting to risk any suspicion.

Later on, when Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) mentions her plan to go into town for some shopping, Cassie asks her to grab some antihistamines, covering by saying she’s got hay fever.

After accepting Steve’s offer of lunch in the Bistro, Cassie prepares to nip out just as Ken closes his eyes for a nap. As she leaves though, his eyes ping open.

While alone in Number One, Ken reaches for his phone to make an important call, but ends up collapsing in pain.

As Ken is admitted to hospital once more, Cassie decides to pay him a visit – but is he getting closer to catching her out?

If Ken works out the truth, just how will the rest of the Barlow family react?
