The One Show presenters Alex Jones and Roman Kemp made sure to pay tribute to the legendary actor Timothy West during the latest instalment of the popular BBC programme

BBC’s The One Show delivered an incredibly heartfelt tribute to the late actor Timothy West during its latest episode.

Viewers were touched as presenters Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, who welcomed guests including Star Wars star Daisy Ridley and inspiring youth Emily from the Children in Need challenge team, took a moment to honour the much-loved actor.

At the end of the programme, the duo paid homage to Timothy after his family confirmed with a heavy heart earlier today (November 13) that he had passed away in his sleep on Tuesday.

Both Alex and Roman spared a few tender minutes to celebrate Timothy’s life. Alex mentioned: “And just before we go, we wanted to say how saddened we are on the news that Timothy West has died at the age of 90.”

Continuing the tribute, Roman chimed in with some kind words, saying, “He was a brilliant actor who many will remember for his role in EastEnders. He also recently made a lovely film for us alongside his wife, Fawlty Towers star Prunella Scales”, reports Wales Online.

The show wrapped up with a moving clip from a recent film featuring Timothy and his wife Prunella, focusing on their deep bond. In it, viewers saw the intimate moments as Timothy read a heartfelt letter to Prunella and reminisced about their love story.

Timothy’s illustrious career embraced the stage and screen for over sixty years, boasting roles in productions such as Ever After, Beyond Borders, and beloved soap operas EastEnders and Coronation Street.

Timothy West’s children have confirmed the actor’s passing in a heartfelt statement shared on Wednesday, November 13.

The announcement, posted on his son Samuel’s social media account, said: “After a long and extraordinary life on and off the stage, our father Timothy West died peacefully in his sleep yesterday evening. He was 90 years old.

“Tim was with friends and family at the end. He leaves his wife Prunella Scales, to whom he was married for 61 years, a sister, a daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. All of us will miss him terribly.”

Concluding their message, they expressed gratitude towards the healthcare workers who looked after him: “We would like to thank the incredible NHS staff at St George’s Hospital, Tooting and at the Avery Wandsworth for their loving care during his last days. Juliet, Samuel and Joseph West.”

The One Show airs Mondays-Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
