EastEnders fans are convinced a soap regular is set to be written out after a number of brutal scenes involving a child-to-parent abuse storyline
EastEnders enthusiasts are suspecting that a major character could be departing from Albert Square in an unexpected plot development.
The focus of a disturbing storyline on the soap lately has been Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace) and her son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall), dealing with a case of child-to-parent abuse.
Tommy’s aggressive conduct came to light earlier this year after Kat broke things off with Phil Mitchell (portrayed by Steve McFadden). This led to Tommy acting out against his relatives, truanting, and even stealing from the Minute Mart.
In July, the storyline took a dark turn when Tommy violently punched Kat in the stomach during an intense confrontation. Kat turned to Alfie Moon (Shayne Richie) for help, who promised to rein in the unruly teen.
However, with Alfie away in Birmingham on a two-week management course, Kat and Tommy are now facing their challenges alone, reports the Daily Star. More turmoil ensued between mother and son in the latest instalment aired on Wednesday (October 9), where Tommy delivered a punch to Kats face, leaving her battered and scared.
This has led viewers to theorise that Tommy’s future might involve a dramatic exit via jail. Speculations have emerged on an EastEnders fan group on Facebook, with one member posting: “Where do we think the storyline is going with Tommy? ” Another fan predicted, “I reckon Kat ends up calling the police or someone and Tommy gets arrested.”
A third viewer predicted grim outcomes, commenting: “He will either put Kat or one of the boys in hospital… Maybe social will get involved and take him away.” Meanwhile, a fourth individual remarked on the character’s fate: “Trying to be a mini Phil but gone too far… He is going to jail or end up dead.”
In contrast, the violent scenes involving Tommy and his mother Kat left many spectators appalled. One fan expressed their shock on X: “SORRY?TOMMY PUNCHED KAT IN THE EYE?? Wrap it up.”
Another was eager to voice their frustration: “Need to rant about this Tommy storyline Eastenders have been stressing me out with.” And yet another admitted the difficulty in watching the storyline unfold: “These Tommy and Kat scenes are really hard to watch ngl.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
