Sharon Watts was fiercely grilled during Dean Wicks’ murder trial this Monday in EastEnders. But when the pressure was turned up a notch, her pal Linda Carter fled.
EastEnders fans believe that Linda Carter will soon have a lot of explaining to do as she fled from Dean Wicks’ murder trial, making it clear she may have something to hide.
The Queen Vic landlady has been struggling to cope with her guilty conscience in recent scenes of the BBC One soap, particularly as Dean’s trial was looming on the horizon. This Monday (September 2, 2024), the vile rapist played by Matt Di Angelo appeared in court for the first day of his trial.
After Stacey Slater was the first to face the defence’s questioning, it was time for Sharon Watts (portrayed by Letitia Dean) to deliver her recollection of events, as she tries to hide her own involvement in Keanu Taylor’s death.
But tempers flared when Sharon Watts’ feelings for Keanu Taylor were called into question as the paternity of her son Albie Watts was mentioned – and Phil Mitchell was embarrassed when his estranged brother Grant was brought up.

Sharon lost her cool, as she accused the defence barrister of “s***-shaming” and when she was unable to calm down, she was dragged out of the courtroom by police officers, accused of “contempt of court.” Meanwhile, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) did her best to remain level-headed as she prepared to face her own grilling.
Stepping into the building, Linda was horrified to see Sharon being turned away from the courtroom, as she was cuffed by a group of officers and the mere sight of her friend was enough to scare Linda off as she made a runner, despite her pal’s please for her to face the music.
Over on X, otherwise known as Twitter, many viewers of the London-based programme grew increasingly convinced this could be the start of Linda’s downfall as her swift escape could be a hint to authorities she has something to hide. In another theory, some viewers suggested that Sharon may betray her friend herself, after being left to face court alone.
“At this point lock Linda up. Sis can’t even get into the cab. It’s alright man cut the cameras”, one of them wrote on the social media platform. Another added: “Oh Linda, you’ve f* ittt.” A third then chimed in: “In taking a guess that Sharon will shop Linda to the police as revenge for backing out at the last minute. This is Sharon Watts we’re talking about.”
One TV fan jumped in as they suggested: “Linda can go too. Liability.” A critical soap fan slammed the Queen Vic landlady as they commented: “linda is so spinelessssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!! i knew she’d do this.”
But another detail was pointed out as one fan wondered if Denise Fox (Diane Parish) would be questioned herself. “I wonder if Denise will get questioned at some point? Remember she hit Nish round the head with a champagne bottle and she pretended to be Linda at one point when the police were asking for her”, they penned.
This comes after actress Letitia Dean, who has played original character Sharon Watts since the soap’s earlies episodes, teased difficult scenes for her alter ego on the box.
“She feels incredibly guilty, but it’s so much bigger than the court case”, Letitia explained about her character’s true state of mind. “Keanu ultimately died at Christmas because Linda saved Sharon’s life, but there is so much more collateral damage that has happened as a result of her and Keanu’s love that goes well beyond the trial and Christmas.”
The soap star added that Sharon has “endured immense heartbreak”, while still trying to dodge prison as she knows the Six have a fragile alliance due to Linda Carter’s own struggles.
“The breakdown of her marriage to Phil, the death of her son, Denny, and ultimately the death of Keanu on top of everything else that has followed.”
“Sharon has endured immense heartbreak because she dared to give into her feelings for Keanu, and I don’t think she will ever forgive herself for the pain it’s inflicted on everyone around her.” Could this push Sharon over the edge – and maybe even away from the Square?
