BBC EastEnders double prison exit ‘sealed’ after Dean Wicks bombshell

All hell broke loose this Wednesday on EastEnders after Dean Wicks’ shock confession in court. But while he may go down for one crime, another character risks prison.

Dean Wicks won’t be the only one headed to prison as Linda Carter made a bombshell confession of her own.

The Queen Vic landlady played by Kellie Bright has been struggling to cope with her guilty conscience after murdering Keanu Taylor at Christmas but she has successfully managed to frame rapist Dean (Matt Di Angelo) for the crime.

In recent scenes aired on BBC One, Dean faced a tense murder trial which saw him make an explosive confession. Refusing to pay for a crime he knows he did not commit, the treacherous character admitted he once raped Linda, explaining that he’d been framed as part of a revenge conspiracy.

During this Wednesday’s instalment of EastEnders (September 4, 2024), Dean remained in custody but was shocked when he discovered he’d been dismissed by his own solicitor as a newcomer made their debut in the London-based programme.

Meanwhile, Linda Carter continued to spiral as the latest events threw her in a panic, leading her to call Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) for help when the pressure became overwhelming, leading her to almost succumb to her alcohol addiction. But in later scenes, Linda made a huge decision, walking into the Walford police station to admit she had killed Keanu Taylor, unbeknownst to the rest of the Six.

Linda’s decision triggered a storm over on social media, as many viewers of the London-based programme took to X, otherwise known as Twitter to share their shock over the scenes.

“Linda… it’s really over”, one wrote, flabbergasted. Another echoed: “Linda Linda Wa destroy everything”, just as a third continued: “I just watched the spoiler… Not Linda confessing to Murder, I’m so shocked LOOOOOOOL.” A fourth lamented: “Nah nah nah nah nah nahhhhhhhhhhh Linda man.”

Elsewhere, another soap fan wondered if this confirmed Mick Carter, who is presumed dead after vanishing at sea in 2022, would never return to Albert Square: “I’m guessing mick won’t be coming back because Linda is going to jail.” Meanwhile, one concerned watcher questioned: “So if Linda has confessed which implicates everyone else, how many people are leaving #EastEnders this year?”

Viewers of the long-running show recently grew increasingly convinced that Linda may have a lot of explaining to do as she was initially unable to face court. Earlier this week, Linda fled the courtroom, hinting that authorities could get a hunch there’s more to Keanu’s murder than meets the eye.

But while Linda ran away, her pal Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) faced the trial head on and she was even called to testify against Dean. Yet when the defence started poking holes in her recollection of events, Sharon lost her cool and wound up in custody for contempt of court. And as Chrissie Watts is set to return to Walford for a quick stint, one could suggest the pair of women may settle some unfinished business, less than two decades after Den’s death.
