BBC EastEnders boss teases chaos with two new arrivals as troubled history ‘exposed’

EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has warned of trouble ahead as two new arrivals head to Walford in the shape of George’s biological brothers Kobina and Kojo

EastEnders bosses have teased some trouble ahead – as two new arrivals head to Walford.

Emotions will run high in the next few weeks when George Knight gets a surprise from his brothers, Kobina and Kojo, as they arrive in Walford. Fans of the BBC soap will know that George found out recently that he was not Gloria and Eddie’s biological child or officially adopted by them – and that they had kept him for an African family in a baby farming storyline.

Things got even tougher for George when he soon realised that his dad Eddie was responsible for killing George’s biological father Henry Kofi Asare as Gloria didn’t want to her lose her son. Eddie is now in prison and Gloria has died, but George’s family will expand in the coming weeks when Kobina and Kojo Asare arrive at the Queen Vic alongside their mother’s friend Angela.

Explaining to them that their older brother Kwame (aka George) has been found, Kobina and Kojo’s arrival will send shockwaves through George’s life. Kojo, George’s younger brother, is autistic and will be played by actor Dayo Koleosho, who is autistic himself. Kobina will be played by Jonathan Nyati, who will be joining the soap on a temporary basis.

Kobina is struggling to cope and he decides to return to Ghana, whilst George offers to care for Kojo, who wants to stay in Walford. Speaking about the new arrivals, EastEnders Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Dayo and Jonathan to EastEnders to play Kojo and Kobina as we continue to explore George’s story. These are three brothers who were torn apart by tragedy and have a lot of complex emotions to come to terms with. When Kobina decides to leave, Kojo chooses to stay, which gives George the chance to be a big brother and also take on caring responsibilities.”

Speaking about joining the soap, Dayo said: “It’s been absolutely amazing – I’m loving every minute of working with the cast and crew. It’s an incredible storyline for Kojo and his family. It is a dream that has become reality. They are many surprises and I’m taking every opportunity to work creatively with other talented actors.”

Whilst Jonathan Nyati added: “I am really honoured to appear in EastEnders, a British soap that I grew up watching religiously. It’s exciting to be part of George Knight’s storyline and his on-screen family. I can’t wait for viewers to be introduced to Kobina and his little brother Kojo as they arrive in Albert Square for the first time.”
