Another Emmerdale favourite ‘axed’ after seven years and has already filmed exit

Yet another Emmerdale regular has reportedly been given the chop, following the recent exits of Dean Andrews, Daisy Campbell, Paula Lane and Lesley Dunlop

Another Emmerdale star is set to say goodbye to the ITV soap.

In recent months, a number of Emmerdale regulars have been axed, including Will Taylor star Dean Andrews who was killed off over Christmas. His exit came just weeks after it emerged that Amelia Spencer actress Daisy Campbell was left devastated by news of her own.

Susan Cookson has reportedly been axed as Wendy Posner

Joining them on the chopping block now, though, is Susan Cookson, according to reports. Susan has played nurse Wendy Posner for seven years but has now reportedly filmed her final scenes.

She entered the ITV soap as mother of rapist Lee Posner, before her other son Luke joined the soap. Recently, she cheated on partner Bob Hope with Dr Liam Cavanagh.

The door has reportedly been left open for Wendy to return

However Susan has been left “devastated” by the decision for her character to leave the show, according to The Sun. “She’s really well liked in the cast but unfortunately budget cuts mean hard decisions need to be make and that resulted in Susan being one of a number of cast leaving,” a source told the publication.

“ITV is going through a cash crisis with the soaps and the money just isn’t there to pay for everyone any more. Ultimately if the character isn’t inspiring a lot of story from producers then there’s no space for them in the show anymore.”

Wendy recently had an affair with Liam

It’s reported that the other cast members have been left unsettled, worrying whether or not they could be next.

However it’s not all bad news. The source went on: “The door is very much being left open for Susan in future and it’s hoped that one day she could return to see her grandson Harry.”

Another character set to leave is Leyla Harding, while Tom King was recently sent to prison.

On the other hand, it was confirmed over the festive period that Joe Tate would be making a long-awaited return. Actor Ned Porteous will reprise his role as the handsome bad-lad.
