Another Coronation Street star quits with final scenes filmed – and fans are gutted

A Coronation Street favourite has quit the soap – just days after Martin Platt actor Sean Wilson’s shock exit.

A fan-favourite from Coronation Street has quit the show, leaving fans heartbroken.

Luana Santos quickly became a household name following her debut on Coronation Street last year. Portraying Sabrina, she entered the scene as the unsuspecting girlfriend of Max Turner, played by Paddy Bever.

Sabrina’s introduction came at a time when Max was completing community service following his involvement with a far-right extremist group, something she was initially unaware of. Over the past year, Luana’s character has been central to several gripping plotlines, including the shocking vanishing act of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

But on Tuesday (August 20), Luana made it public that she has filmed her final scenes for the soap.

Via her Instagram account, Luana posted a picture with co-star Jack Carroll, who portrays Bobby Crawford, adding the caption: “Last day with Corrie… thanks for everything @coronationstreet. Drama school here I come”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The announcement of Luana’s departure stirred up significant reactions amongst the Corrie audience. One fan commented on X: “Oh wow! I’ve been wanting more Sabrina. Good luck to Luana Santos!”

Another expressed disappointment, saying: “Shame, there was quite a lot of potential in her.”

Another comment read: “Disappointing,” and one more viewer exclaimed: “So many exits recently!” Daily Express has reached out to ITV for an official response.

Luana’s exit from the soap follows the startling revelation that Sean Wilson, who portrays Martin Platt, has also departed from Coronation Street.

Earlier in the year, it was announced that Sean would be returning to the show as part of Gail Platt’s (played by Helen Worth) departure plotline, after an impressive fifty years.

Yet, it has now emerged that Sean is “stepping down for personal reasons”, leading to the cancellation of his scenes. Consequently, the planned storyline will not be broadcast, sparking concerns among viewers that the script changes might result in Gail’s character being written out permanently.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
