Beth Cordingly updated fans on social media to share her big Emmerdale win
Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly took to her Instagram on Tuesday (11th February) to celebrate her “deserved” win for the ITV soap after “25 years” in the industry.
Monday (10th February) night was a huge night in the world of TV as the 2025 TV choice awards took place. In a night filled with glitz and glamour, Emmerdale won big securing awards for “Best Soap” and “Best Newcomer”.
The ITV soap kept their crown for “Best Soap” after winning the award last year too, and 2024 saw two former Coronation Street stars Paula Lane and Oliver Farnworth rock up in the Dales to take on new roles.
Major storylines have been tackled during recent months in the village, from Tom King and Belle Dingle’s abuse story, Moira’s battle with cancer, April’s disappearance and Ruby getting justice after her abusive father Anthony Fox was murdered.
Speaking of Ruby, Beth Cordingly joined Emmerdale in 2024 to take on the role and soon became embroiled in some harrowing storylines after her estranged father Anthony decided he would stay put in the village.
It was soon revealed to viewers that Anthony had repeatedly sexually abused Ruby when she was a teenager in twisted flashbacks of her sixteenth birthday. Later, Caleb and fans of the soap also found out that Anthony had fathered Steph.

In a sinister plot, Caleb led Anthony to a secluded barn where he forced him to admit what he had done, scaring him with a game of Russian Roulette using his gun. While he fled from the scene, Aaron Dingle caught up to him at the depot and although he intended to drag him to the police, he saw red as Anthony taunted him about his own abuse and he threw several punches at him leaving Anthony on the floor covered in blood.
Aaron and boyfriend John Sugden returned later to find out he had died, and John took on the task of clearing any evidence from the crime scene, including dumping Anthony’s body. However, it was Ruby who had killed her father as she found him bleeding out on the depot floor and she demanded justice for everything he had done.
Although a newbie in Emmerdale, Beth Cordingly isn’t a rookie when it comes to being on the TV and first appeared as Kerry Young in The Bill back in 2002.
Taking to her Instagram on Tuesday morning, Beth posted a video and shared: “This is what the morning after looks like, I’ve had quite a lot of tequila”. The actress then showed off her new trophy and excitedly commented: “That says best newcomer, after 25 years because I’m 102 and I’m best newcomer!”
She added: “Thank you so much for voting for me, I am made up I am so chuffed. I love Emmerdale, we’re all thrilled and also thank you for voting for us for best soap. We love you.”
Alongside the video she captioned: “THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! @tvchoicemagazine I am made up. Thank you for voting for me to be best newcomer….25 years in the business and I finally won it! Hooray!!! And thank you for best soap, I love @emmerdale and we love you. Thank you for voting for me”.
Co-stars celebrated Beth’s win with Danny Miller (Aaron) posting on his story: “Oh god! We won’t hear the end of this… Congrats Beth Cordingly richly deserved! Proud of you and so pleased for you!!”
Lisa Riley (Mandy) also took to her Instagram stories and wrote: “Congratulations to everyone at Emmerdale. Big shout out to the brilliant Beth Cordingly you deserve this babes”.
