Coronation Street fans spot Max Turner ‘blunder’ as he admits being arsonist behind Platt house fire

The beloved family home was seen going up in flames earlier this month and Max has admitted he was to blame

Coronation Street fans spotted a major blunder as Max Turner was revealed as the culprit of the Platt family house fire. The beloved family home was seen going up in flames earlier this month.

Viewers of the ITV soap saw a soaked rag was posted through the house’s front door along with some lit matches. Shona Platt was soon alerted to the fire as it quickly took hold and, fearing Lily was in the house, she and Max Turner headed inside with Nick Tilsley, who was left rescuing an unconscious Toyah Habeeb, who had been attacked by Abi Webster.

Shona and Max were then left trapped inside the empty house and while Shona managed to escape, with her horrified husband David waiting on the other side, Max was left stuck as the house exploded. He was later pulled from the burning property and was rushed to hospital where he was placed in a coma.

Fans were quick to point the finger at David Platt as they know of his money troubles having taken money that belonged to gangster Harvey Gaskell. Desperate to buy his mum Gail’s house as she prepared to leave the street, he took the cash that was offered to his sister Sarah Platt by Harvey’s brother Damon Hay after Bethany’s serious health scare.

As a result Shona was quick to blame Harvey for the inferno that engulfed the Platts’ beloved family home as the family were supposed to be gathering at the Bistro for Sarah’s birthday celebrations, but he was acting shifty and avoiding attending the gathering.

But after David, Abi and Leanne Battersby were all put in the frame, it was Max who was forced to admit that he was the one who started the first after Shona realised it was him on CCTV from inside Kevin Webster’s garage where the petrol was taken from.

He was identified thanks to a distinctive hoodie, which a horrified Shona instantly recognised as it was the same one she had bought her stepson at Christmas. She quickly rushed off to the hospital, where Max was still recovering having woken from a coma. But once Lauren Bolton had left his bedside, Shona railed at Max for what he’d done before later informing David of what really happened.

But a flashback of what Max had done left some Corrie fans baffled. @LeroyStHillwell said: “Max’s petrol soaked glove not going up though #Corrie.” @bosdovja92 commented: “Max: pours petrol all over his glove Also Max: strikes a match F**king idiot #corrie.”

@AndyInSalford added: “So #Max pured petrol all over the rag..and his glove..and then strikes a match, holding them in the glove full of petrol and petrol fumes…. #corrie #coronationstreet.”
