Home and Away’s Kyle Shilling lands new project away from the soap

The Mali Hudson actor will star in another Aussie favourite.

Home and Away star Kyle Shilling has revealed his brand new project away from the soap, with the actor set to take on a very different challenge.

Shilling, who has played Mali Hudson since 2023, has shared a post on Instagram in which he teased, “I’m doing a thing”, revealing that he will be taking part in the next series of Australia’s Dancing with the Stars.

He also shared an image of himself surrounded by the other famous faces who will be competing in the new series, with the Dancing with the Stars glitterball logo in the corner.

His Home and Away co-star Ethan Browne, who plays Tane Parata, joked in the comments, “Just do the moves I taught you and you’ll win”, to which Shilling replied with a shushing emoji.

The actor’s followers also shared their excitement about the announcement, with one commenting, “Kyle if you don’t hit the robot at least one time for me I’ll be sad” and another writing, “Kyle for the winnnn”.

The star has also shared a couple of behind-the-scenes clips on his Instagram Stories, including a video of himself pulling off a spin.

The Dancing with the Stars 2025 line-up also includes fellow actor Rebecca Gibney and TV presenter Osher Günsberg, who has hosted The Masked Singer Australia and The Bachelor Australia.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood will also return as a judge on the Aussie series, which is expected to return to screens later this year.

Shilling isn’t the first Home and Away actor to take to the dance floor for the reality show, with Justin Morgan star James Stewart having finished in fifth place on last year’s series.

Other Summer Bay stars who have competed on the show include Emily Weir (Mackenzie Booth), Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson) and Lynne McGranger (Irene Roberts).

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
