Coronation Street fans think they’ve spotted a chilling clue
Coronation Street viewers were left feeling uneasy after spotting a chilling clue in Monday’s episode.
In the latest instalment, available to watch from 7am on ITVX and airing at 8pm on ITV, DS Lisa Swain discovered that Carla Connor’s brother, Rob Donovan, is having an affair with prison guard Mandy. The pair are scheming his escape while he waits at the hospital to donate his kidney to Carla.
Lisa managed to persuade Rob to proceed with the operation, promising to try and overturn his conviction. However, a new dramatic promotional trailer released by the ITV soap has sparked concern for the safety of beloved characters Carla and Lisa, also known as ‘Swarla’.
The trailer, previewing next week’s episodes, shows Rob ready to do whatever it takes to evade jail, regardless of who gets hurt along the way.
As both Carla and Rob recover from the kidney donation surgery, the tension escalates when Rob assaults a male security guard, steals his uniform, and kidnaps Carla as he escapes the hospital, reports Lancs Live.
Lisa is hot on their trail, but has she underestimated just how far Rob will go? Is he willing to kill again or will he face severe consequences for his daring plan?
However, ahead of next week, viewers were distracted by one scene in Monday’s episode, which they believe was a chilling hint and foreshadowing of next week’s events.
During the scene in question, Carla discovered that Rob had an allergic reaction in prison and was hospitalised. As she dashed out, Lisa reached out to touch her arm, but Carla slipped away, hurrying to the hospital.

Fans immediately took to Twitter, now X, to discuss the moment, concerned that it hinted at a grim outcome for Carla in the upcoming episode, speculating she might be written out after 19 years on the show.
One person said alongside the clip: “this shot BROKE me #swarla”, a different account put: “i feel sick tbh……. I feel like this means MORE than we all think and it’s a f**king foreshadowing [death emoji]. THAT what’s ahead will tear us apart and I’m damn curious about it (angst’ll always be my first choice) #swarla #corrie” while another added: “Gorgeous shot, and like others have said definitely foreshadowing what’s to come over the next couple of weeks. #Swarla #Corrie.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
