Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle star, Bradley Johnson, appeared on Friday’s Lorraine where he spoke about his exciting baby news and teased his ITV soap future after an explosive week of storylines
An Emmerdale favourite has shared exciting baby news and teased their future on the hit ITV soap.
During the latest episode, guest host Christine Lampard chatted with Vinny Dingle star, Bradley Johnson, about his character after an explosive week of storylines.
However, the chat soon shifted from soap life to personal life as Bradley spoke about the upcoming birth of his first child with fiancée Sammie Johnstone. In June, he made the announcement via a sweet Instagram post featuring a cake declaring ‘baby coming December 2024’ and ultrasound images, affectionately captioned: “Mum and dad” with a heart emoji.
On Lorraine, an ecstatic Bradley shared: “Sammie, my partner, is due in less than three weeks time! I cannot wait!” to which a beaming Christine said: “Perfect Christmas present!”
Bradley continued: “Literally, yeah! I’m excited, Sammie’s like: ‘I can wait a week or two!’ I changed my first nappy a few weeks ago, my nephew, that was an ordeal – I didn’t throw up everywhere!”, reports the Mirror.
He continued confidently: “But it was quite alright, everything went to plan! So yeah, I think I’m ready, it might be a different story in a month’s time!”
Adding to the excitement, Christine surprised Bradley with a special ‘Lorraine’ babygrow, prompting a delighted reaction from Bradley: “Oh wow, that is amazing! It still doesn’t feel real but look at that! Sammie’s going to love that, she’s absolutely going to love that, thank you so much!”
Elsewhere during the chat, Bradley dropped some hints about what’s next for his character Vinny in Emmerdale after the bombshell revelation that Tina Dingle, played by Samantha Power, is his biological on-screen mother – a truth that Mandy Dingle, portrayed by Lisa Riley, had kept from him all his life. The recent episodes saw a heartbroken Vinny disowning Mandy, feeling utterly betrayed by her lifelong deception.
Bradley shared his hopes for Vinny’s future storylines, saying: “Hopefully Vinny can forgive Mandy, but yeah it’s quite a biggie!” to which Christine then chimed in with: “This does make Vinny an official Dingle!”
Reflecting on his role, Bradley expressed his initial expectations and excitement: “Obviously when I first got the job and found out I was going to play Mandy’s son, I presumed I’d be a Dingle and when the storyline came out I wasn’t a biological Dingle… I’ve grown up watching Emmerdale and the Dingles are iconic as well so to be blood, it’s brilliant!”
Looking ahead at what’s in store for Vinny, he added: “I would like to see [some happiness for Vinny], obviously we see Vinny now with Gabby so fingers’ crossed that ends up well!”
He also teased potential dynamics between the characters: “We’ve got posh Gabby who is quite bossy and Vinny who is quite geeky and shy, so hopefully there’s some comedy aspects we could play there but I would like to see Vinny and Mandy makeup. Whether they do or not you’ll have to keep watching!”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
