The demand came during a dramatic week in Weatherfield after a fire was started in the Platts’ family home
Coronation Street fans have been left ‘begging’ show bosses to bring two characters closer together which could end up mimicking real life for the pair.
It was a dramatic week in Weatherfield after a fire was started in the Platts’ family home. The blaze was started in No.8 Coronation Street by a mysterious hooded figure, destroying not just bricks and mortar but tearing apart the iconic family.
As fans know, David Platt has become an enemy of gangster Harvey Gaskell after taking money which belonged to him. Desperate to buy his mum Gail’s house as she prepared to leave the street, he took the cash that was offered to his sister Sarah Platt by Harvey’s brother Damon Hay after Bethany’s serious health scare.
Shona was quick to blame Harvey for the inferno that engulfed the Platts’ beloved family home as the family were supposed to be gathering at the Bistro for Sarah’s birthday celebrations. But it appears the culprit could be someone closer to home.
During the last episode of Corrie this week on Wednesday (February 5), after receiving a visit from David’s dodgy former prison mate Andy Garland, Sarah grew even more suspicious of her sibling, and soon shared her concerns with older brother Nick Tilsley. They confronted David and not satisfied with his response, Nick handed him into the police.
Meanwhile, Abi was being questioned as Toyah gave a statement confirming she’d been hurt by her, which Abi didn’t deny. But things got too much for the mechanic as she was accused of starting the fire, leading her to open up about her fragile mental health following the death of Mason Radcliffe.

Also, during the episode, Leanne Battersby revealed to Steve McDonald that she couldn’t remember where she’d been on the night of the fire, after throwing a bottle of vodka at No.8 as Toyah was inside. She explained that the next thing she knew, she was waking up in Victoria Gardens with a box of matches in her pocket.
But it was the scenes between Abi and DS Lisa Swain that captured the attention of viewers after she stepped in to help a distressed Abi who was being interrogated by DC Kit Green over the attack on Toyah and the arson.
And Corrie fans were quick to suggest that a friendship forms between Abi and Swain – with some probably not aware that actresses Sally Carman and Vicky Myers are close pals in real life.
