Coronation Street star Jane Danson told ‘this can’t be real’ over reunion with famous pal after ’30 years’

The Leanne Battersby actress enjoyed the reunion alongside Toyah Habeeb co-star Georgia Taylor

Coronation Street star Jane Danson has surprised fans with her connection to another famous face as they declared: ‘This can’t be real!’

The actress was among the TV stars attending the Broadcast Awards 2025 on Wednesday night (February 5) where the ITV soap picked up the gong for Best Continuing Drama.

Other winners included real-life drama Mr Bates vs the Post Office, which enjoyed a double victory, and The Piano, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, which picked up Best Popular Factual Programme.

The Broadcast Awards Hall of Fame was launched to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event and each year a show will be inducted that has made an indelible mark on British life and has been influential and acclaimed within the industry.

Gavin & Stacey, the much-loved sitcom, was the very first to be added after the beloved series concluded this Christmas after 17 years with a whopping +28-day audience of 20.9m viewers, the UK’s biggest scripted show since records began in 2002.

Having represented Corrie at the prestigious ceremony alongside Corrie co-stars Georgia Taylor and Ryan Russell, who play Weatherfield’s Toyah Haeeb and Michael Bailey, Jane took to Instagram with a string of glamourous snaps.

But it was the first photo that caused a distraction as Jane and Georgia posed with Gavin and Stacey star and co-creator James Corden. Captioning her post, the Leanne Battersby actress wrote: “Lovely night at #broadcast awards congratulations @coronationstreet winning best continuing drama!

“A special moment seeing @j_corden again after working together 30 years ago! ( some of you may remember ‘out of tune ‘? Can’t believe it’s so long ago !!) happy memories.”

And fans were quick to respond. Sharing the snap on Twitter, one fan said: “THIS CANNOT BE REALLLLLL please i cant.” Another replied: “Why does he look photoshopped,” while a third added: “WHAT AM I WITNESSING.”

Others, meanwhile, were happy to see Jane and Georgia in happier spirits compared to their on-screen alter-egos. @grahamtctravels6 commented: “Nice to see you getting on with on screen sister.” @savannah_jessica_84 added: “Looking gorgeous especially the ladies. It’s nice to see you both getting on and not fighting for once haha lol.”
