EastEnders fans can witness the drama of the upcoming 40th anniversary live special together at a watch party hosted by two celebrity superfans of the hit BBC soap

EastEnders’ 40th anniversary special is fast approaching – and now fans can watch the live episode together at an upcoming watch party.

Walford obsessives will get the chance to watch the live special on Thursday 20 February with fellow fans at BoxPark in Wembley, where the episode will be projected onto the big screen.

The upcoming event is set to be hosted by fans, DJ Goldie Quaker and Peckham’s Finest Isla Loba, who promise a night packed with entertainment, surprises and quizzes.

“Whether you’re a lifelong viewer or a new fan obsessed with the iconic plot twists, this is your chance to celebrate in style!” BoxPark teased. “Come dressed as your favourite EastEnders character, or just bring your love for the Square!”

Tickets are available for £8.30 on the BoxPark website, which comes with guaranteed entry and one drink.

Last week, EastEnders announced that it will celebrate the soap’s 40th anniversary with a live episode, featuring a first-of-its kind interactive twist. Fans will get the chance to decide whether Denise Fox ends up with estranged husband Jack Branning or lover Ravi Gulati.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said of the storyline: “We’re all so excited to give our audience their first ever chance to decide how one of our big storylines plays out.

“Their votes will determine whether Denise picks Jack or Ravi, with the outcome being revealed as part of our live episode. There is a lot to come over the next few weeks for all three involved, so it’ll be extremely exciting to see which way the audience choose to take the story!”

Meanwhile, fans are convinced that the soap will change its theme tune for the 40th anniversary specials, which will air throughout the week, starting on 17 February. After the soap posted a video of all the classic theme tunes from over the years, fans took to social media to predict that the BBC show will drop a brand new one this month.

One viewer wrote: “A new version for the 40th looms.” While another was hoping “there will be a new version! Something with violins again”.

A third guessed that there will be a “new opening on the 40th anniversary?” While another said: “New one soon?!?!?!?!”

EastEnders’ 40th Anniversary Live Special airs on Thursday 20 February on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
