ITV Coronation Street viewers baffled by ‘error’ as fans wait to learn character’s fate

Monday night’s episode saw a blaze take hold of the Platt’s home at number eight Coronation Street

On Monday’s episode of the ITV soap, intense scenes showed a fire break out in the Platt’s home. David Platt has lived in fear for weeks, as he took money from gangster Harvey Gaskell.

But his worries had to go on hold on Monday, as the lives of multiple family members were on the line. While trying to enjoy Sarah’s birthday party at the Bistro, a petrol soaked rag was pushed through the letterbox at number eight.

In the lead up to the fire, Abi found out that Toyah had reported her to social services after forgetting about Alfie in last week’s episodes. When Abi discovered Toyah alone in the Platt household, things went from bad to worse.

Abi suffered from another intense hallucination about Seb and Mason’s tragic deaths. In the midst of her psychological trauma, she knocked Toyah out, who fell to the floor surrounded by smashed glass. Worried about the consequences of her actions, Abi fled.

Later that night, a huge blaze caught hold of the Platt’s home. Concerned about Lily’s whereabouts, Nick and Max rushed into the burning house, only to find Toyah on the floor.

Several lives of the Corrie residents were already at risk, as Toyah’s life was left in the hands of both Nick and Kit. However, the dramatic scenes intensified as viewers saw Shona and Max trapped by the intense flames in number eight.

In a heartbreaking end to the episode, Shona managed to escape the fire, leaving Max nowhere to be seen. But, viewers couldn’t move past one discontinuity in the scene. Viewers saw Max and Shona struggling to get the door open, followed by a skip forward to Shona outside gasping for air, which left fans wondering exactly how she was able to escape, and Max didn’t.

Viewers flooded social media with a stream of comments after noticing the continuity error in the ITV soap. One said: “Shona and Max literally on top of each other side by side scrambling at the “stuck” back door… next thing Shona is outside but Max is still inside with the door still “stuck” how?”

Other fans added: “How did Shona get out? Is she now a ghost?”, “The door locks then locks again once Shona barges through it”, “Hang on.. did Shona walk through the door like a ghost or what?! one second she was behind the door inside the house and next she was outside but the door looks untouched?”

Another agreed: “Can someone tell me how Shona managed to get out without max and the scene shows her outside with the back door shut.” Max’s fate was left unknown, as the drama will continue on Wednesday.

Coronation Street’ airs on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday
