Viewers of the ITV soap are already aware that No.8 is set to be ravaged by a terrifying blaze
Coronation Street fans think the show has ‘revealed’ who started that fire set to devastate the Platt family in upcoming scenes. Viewers of the ITV soap are already aware that No.8 is set to be ravaged by a terrifying blaze.
It’s been just over a month since Gail Platt left Weatherfield behind for a new life in France with her husband Jesse Chadwick. But what she doesn’t know is the chaos that has been unfolding for her beloved family on the cobbles – and it looks set to get deadly in a horror home inferno.
It’s likely the blame will quickly fall to David Platt as he is currently in the bad books of notorious gangster Harvey Gaskell. It’s become clear in recent weeks that he is being sought out by Harvey’s thugs after taking money which belonged to him, after it was offered to David’s sister Sarah Platt by Harvey’s brother Damon Hay.
But it’s been revealed that when the shocking events unfold from Monday (February 3), those watching will be left to wonder about the identity of the mysterious hooded figure we see pushing a petrol-soaked rag through the letterbox of No. 8. And when the fire is proven to be arson some of the street’s best-known residents start to feel the heat and find themselves forced to try and convince the police of their innocence.
Ahead of the episode, Coronation Street posted a video on Instagram on Friday (January 31) as their usual end-of-week episode didn’t air which they captioned: “We’re not on this evening, but here’s a little teaser of what’s to come on Monday,” followed by a fire emoji. It showed members of the cast during filming for the scenes as they were asked to describe the latest drama in one word.

The video also showed the Platt family home being blown up, which left the cast shouting as some filmed each other’s reactions. But some eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice the return of one particular character.
@camjmes0 said: “Not them spoiling who did it… Alright Logan [Radcliffe] how’s you?” When @Nat1471 asked: “Whys it spoiled it, where does it mention logan,” the original poster explained: “Logan’s on the run and in my screenshot Logan is watching the explosion go off. He wouldn’t be on set if he wasn’t involved in the fire in the first place.”
However, @mikedoc90 argued: “Abi, I’m saying!” After the last episode of the ITV soap, @jasontalks02 shared: “Oh David has put himself in the firing line with that comment. Surely it’s too obvious to be him to start the fire? #corrie.” @thedisneydaddy_ echoed: “After the way David was talking last week about money, I wouldn’t be surprised if David starts the fire as part of an insurance job.” But @batdan1989 added: “It’s Kit. He’s a shifty geezer who’s got it in for David.”
