Her new lover has a secret…
Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has revealed the first details about Diane Hutchinson’s dangerous new romance.
Diane has been struggling since the breakdown of her marriage to Tony and she has found it difficult to accept the end of their relationship.
As an alcoholic, at the end of last year, she pretended to have had a relapse so Tony would continue to support her.
But it was Ro who had the drinking problem, and after he ended up in hospital on New Year’s Eve, Tony found out the truth and was furious.
Since then, Tony and Ro have moved out of the pub and are currently staying with Marie and the Lomaxes – making clear that there is no hope for a future with Diane.
It seems that Diane has finally decided to rule out a reunion, as in scenes that will air next week, she spends the night with an unexpected villager. When they emerge from the bedroom, her new lover is revealed to be none other than DI Banks.
Earlier this month, actor Drew Cain, who plays Banks, confirmed this surprising new relationship in an interview with Inside Soap.
“Diane was hoping to rekindle things with Tony but has realised it’s time to move on,” he said. “There is a connection between her and Banks, but it’s early days. And she might be on the rebound!”
But since then, viewers have found out that the detective is a secret villain, as he is Rex’s boss in the human trafficking scheme he has become involved in.
Grace found out about Rex’s criminal scheme and met up with Banks to get her brother out of the situation – but she realised that she wanted in, and told Rex that they could take over the whole organisation together.
Elsewhere in the village, Cleo recently went to the police with a website where Abe had uploaded intimate videos of her, Peri and Leela.
DI Banks told her that the website had been taken down, but it was revealed that he was the one who ordered it to be removed from the web.
With Banks a secret criminal, what is Diane getting herself into and is she in danger?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
