Home and Away’s John Palmer left devastated by Dana row

They’re torn apart in a sexism row.

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away’s John Palmer is left crushed on UK screens next week as his friendship with Dana Matheson dramatically hits the rocks.

John struggles to forgive Dana after she wrongly accuses him of sexism in an unfortunate misunderstanding.

The pair have grown close since Dana joined Summer Bay’s surf lifesaving team, making a great duo with John on the beach.

Their bond was strengthened last July when John was struck down by a mystery illness and was placed in isolation with Dana at the hospital.

In next week’s Channel 5 episodes, things turn sour as Dana asks to drive the buggy while on a surf lifesaver patrol with John.

John refuses, but before he can explain, Dana points out that all of the volunteers who are allowed to drive are men.

Dana accuses John of a sexist stance and orders him to take her off the volunteering rota for good if he doesn’t trust her to drive.

Although Dana is pleased to have taken a stand, she regrets her hasty outburst when John reveals the real reason that she wasn’t allowed.

John clarifies that Dana hadn’t been trained to drive the buggy and should have checked her emails, which contained details of how to take up the opportunity like everyone else.

Dana unreservedly apologises, but it’s clear that her complaints of sexism have hurt John as he refuses to forgive her.

In sad scenes, John encourages Dana to go ahead and resign if she truly believes that she’s working alongside an old dinosaur. Is it the end for one of the Bay’s strongest friendships?

Home and Away airs these scenes on Thursday, February 6 and Friday, February 7 on Channel 5.
