EastEnders viewers are under the impression Anna Knight is covering for the person who attacked her mum Cindy Beale on Christmas Day, with the real attacker possibly identified
Viewers are convinced they now know which EastEnders character attacked Cindy Beale, and that Anna Knight is covering for them.
Despite some speculation that Anna is the one who nearly killed her mother on Christmas Day in a brutal whodunnit, some fans think her recent odd behaviour tells a different story. With her shown washing blood off her hands in the aftermath and it being revealed she had hidden the shovel, the one likely used in the attack, fans were wondering if it was her behind the deadly assault.
But now some viewers are convinced Anna is protecting someone, covering up someone else’s crime. Given it’s her mother that was attacked and almost died and she is a suspect, it must be someone she really cares about for her to be willing to risk everything to cover for them.
Fans now think they know who attacked Cindy and who Anna was hiding the shovel for. Viewers believe her uncle Kojo Asare might be the one who attacked Cindy, given Anna’s involvement.
Fans had already suspected him after his previous showdown with Cindy leading to his fall from a stairwell. Then there was the fact he’s the only one not named as a suspect out of all the others who were there at Christmas when Cindy’s affair with Junior Knight was exposed.

Fans think Anna could be covering for him as others wondered if her sister Gina was the one protecting Kojo. Taking to X with their theories, one viewer posted: “I reckon it was him who whacked Cindy over the head. Gina is possibly covering for him!”
Another fan said: “I still think it was Kojo and Anna is covering for him but I would rather it was someone else so it’s shocking.” A third fan posted: “Anna’s reaction to the shovel being gone. Either it was her or she’s covering for Kojo.”
A further theory read: “I think Anna may be covering for Kojo or she saw what happened on the night Cindy was attacked,” as another fan posted: “Is it almost too obvious that Kojo did it and Anna is covering for him?”
Viewers will find out during the 40th anniversary week who really attacked Cindy and why. Some viewers are convinced it’s someone away from Walford and that it could be tied into a big return, with others wondering if it’s linked to Cindy’s past stint in witness protection before she returned from the dead.
The truth will be revealed very soon, so fans should keep an eye out for clues!
