Coronation Street fans ‘know’ what happened to Amy Barlow – and they ‘fear the worst’

Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Amy Barlow has been abducted after she went missing following a run-in with her rapist Aaron Sandford’s father Eric

Coronation Street fans are on tenterhooks as Amy Barlow, played by Elle Mulvaney, seemed to vanish after a night out.

The character has been a mainstay on the soap since 2004 and, being the daughter of Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), she’s been involved in numerous major plots.

Most notably in 2023, when she was sexually assaulted by Aaron Sandford (James Craven) after a night out. Despite Aaron insisting their encounter was consensual, he never faced justice and left Weatherfield at the end of 2023.

However, this week saw a dramatic twist for Amy. In Wednesday’s episode (January 29), she went to a friend’s party and was shocked to run into Eric (Craig Cheetham), Aaron’s father.

Eric revealed he was at Aaron’s stag-do and that Aaron would be arriving soon. He also shared that he is expecting a child with his fiancee, leaving Amy horrified. Overwhelmed, she quickly left, dropping her belongings.

Eric asked if she was okay, but an emotional Amy insisted she was fine, reports Plymouth Live. Meanwhile, Steve was spending time with Leanne (Jane Danson) and missed urgent messages from Amy on his phone.

Fans have ‘worked out’ what happened to Amy

Corrie fans are on the edge of their seats after Amy Barlow’s mysterious disappearance sparked fears of a kidnapping. The drama unfolded when Amy lost her car keys and was left with a dying phone battery, leaving her stranded and unable to contact Steve.

Despite sending messages, they went unseen, leading to panic among fans who suspect Aaron’s dad or Aaron himself might be involved.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, speculation is rife, with one worried viewer posting: “Really hope Amy’s ok!” Another chimed in with: “I think Aaron’s dad followed her.”

A third fan speculated: “If something happens to Amy or she goes missing he definitely will have had something to do with it.” While another added: “Yes he said Aaron was arriving soon as well.” And one more fan expressed their concern, saying: “Can’t help but think the worst!”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
