ITV Emmerdale actress inundated with well wishes after being struck ill

The Emmerdale star plays Ruby Fox-Miligan on the soap and has been sent messages of support after she shared a health update with her fans

Over the weekend, Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly, who lights up screens as Ruby-Fox Miligan, shared an update on her health with fans after she was struck down by illness. Her character has been at the centre of some distressing drama, with Ruby’s father Anthony Fox having been killed off last week.

Villagers uncovered his dark history of sexually abusing Ruby in her teens, leading to teenage pregnancy and daughter Steph’s birth.

The identity of Anthony’s killer remains a mystery, although several suspects have come to light. In a shocking development, Aaron Dingle was implicated when he lost control and attacked Anthony after uncovering the truth.

Later, in a moment of desperation, Aaron confessed to his partner John Sugden about their violent clash and admitted to Ruby that he had killed her father, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Beth, despite her on-screen persona’s troubles, keeps fans connected through regular life updates on social media. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she expressed her frustration with her current illness, captioning a video: “Also. Who else is ill today? I feel like EVERYONE I know IS ILL. And – for the first time in my life – I am taking so many supplements, that if you shook me, I’d rattle. So WHY AM I STILL ILL? ? ?”

The actress received a flood of supportive comments from followers, with one saying: “Look after yourself, so many illnesses around this year it seems” while another praised her charm: “You have such a lovely personality. You really do lighten up my day. Hope you feel better soon.”

Among the support, fans penned heartfelt messages like: “You’ve been working really hard, rest up” and “You still look amazing, hope you start to feel better soon. Bring on the summer.”

It’s been a whirlwind year since Beth’s alter ego first made her splash in the village, joining the cast back in January 2024 as Caleb Miligan’s (played by William Ash) wife and Nicky Miligan’s (portrayed by Lewis Cope) mum. The star’s performance has earned her spots on the longlists for Best Newcomer and Best Villain at the coveted 2024 Inside Soap Awards, marking her impact on soap enthusiasts.
