Next week on EastEnders, Phil Mitchell is rushed to hospital as his mental health spirals
As EastEnders approaches its 40th anniversary, viewers can expect heart-wrenching and high-stakes scenes next week that will see a beloved character in crisis.
Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) will be hospitalised as his mental health takes a downward turn. The BBC One soap recently revealed that Walford stalwart Phil would attempt suicide while battling depression with psychotic symptoms.
Phil has been increasingly isolating himself from loved ones due to ex-wife Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) new relationship with his cousin Teddy (Roland Manookian). His marriage to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) has also ended, and his eldest son Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is currently incarcerated in America for fraud. Next week, viewers will witness Phil’s depression worsen and his psychotic symptoms escalate.
The week begins with Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) preparing for a date with Norma, assisted by Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter). When Norma arrives at The Queen Vic with her friend Livi, Nigel invites his good friend Phil to join them for a drink, reports Plymouth Live.
However, the evening takes a turn when Livi notices Phil’s low spirits. Phil hastily leaves, but Nigel decides to continue his dinner with Norma. Meanwhile, at The Arches, Phil finds himself in grave danger.
Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) comes to work at The Arches and discovers Phil in a dire situation. Elsewhere, Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and his wife Yolande are thrilled to learn that Nigel’s date went well. However, Nigel’s happiness is short-lived when he goes to check on Phil and finds him being loaded into an ambulance. Will Phil survive?
In other news, the mystery surrounding Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) continues as the police uncover new evidence in her case. Cindy has a heated exchange with Ian (Adam Woodyatt) over her allegations but later organises a family dinner in an attempt to broker peace, which quickly descends into chaos.
Cindy has an epiphany when she realises her locket is missing and concludes that her attacker must have taken it. As tensions rise in the Beale household, she decides to stay with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), much to her family’s dismay.
Over at the Square, Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) grows increasingly worried about her sister Bianca Jackson’s (Patsy Palmer) unexpected murder confession.
Their cousin Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) also expresses her concerns and shares her doubts with Sonia, but will they delve deeper into the matter?
Later in the week, an expectant Sonia is thrilled when Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) reveals his plans to convert the middle room into a playroom for their baby. However, Sonia also retrieves the footage of Bianca’s confession from Jack and prepares to watch it in secret, only to be caught by Reiss just as she’s about to press ‘play’.
Sonia insists on watching Bianca’s confession, and Reiss reluctantly agrees to join her. However, her reaction is not what he anticipated.
DI Xiang arrives with startling news for Sonia – the police have issued a search warrant for Bianca and plan to charge her with murder. Can Sonia save Bianca in time?
The Panesar family is also set for a shock when they assemble for Nish’s (Navin Chowdhry) will reading. Suspicion arises when they find out Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) has been invited as well.
Nish’s last wishes are bound to stun the family, but what did the villain leave behind? Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) makes a grand gesture during a visit to Denise Fox (Diane Parish), leading to a passionate encounter.
However, when Bernie mistakenly thinks a burglar has broken into No. 20, Ravi and Denise’s secret relationship is revealed. Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) are left shocked as they discover that Ravi and Denise are secretly dating.
With Jack and Chelsea growing closer recently, will Jack attempt to win her back?
