ITV Emmerdale fans make demand for ‘double wedding’ as they ‘predict’ engagement

Fans of Emmerdale are hoping for wedding bells this year

Emmerdale fans have demanded that the ITV soap airs a “double wedding” after some dark storylines lately. Viewers have also predicted that one couple in the Dales is set to get engaged this year.

As 2025 kicked off, so did the drama in Emmerdale. The Leeds-based soap has worked with some harrowing concepts and thanks to flashforwards, we already know there’s more to come.

In recent episodes, viewers have watched as teenage April disappeared on Christmas Day, Joe Tate returned and appears to be hiding something and Anthony Fox was murdered after his sexually abusive behaviour towards his daughter Ruby was exposed.

If that wasn’t enough drama, Emmerdale teased five flashforward scenes at New Year’s including someone trapped under the ice, Cain Dingle stood at someone’s grave, Caleb flatlining in hospital, a crashed car, and a body bag being tipped into a lake.

However, none of these flashforwards have happened yet, viewers are waiting to patiently to see what could happen in the Dales, particularly as multiple exits have already been confirmed for this year.

Taking to an Emmerdale fan thread on Reddit, u/DOJER401 suggested: ” Emmerdale should have a double wedding this year. Maybe it could involve Ryan & Gail and Vinny & Gabby?”

uFun_Arm_446 responded: “Yeah that sounds good, let’s have a happy story for once!” and u/Super-Bus-8152 echoed: “Yes please. Would be nice to get away from all the regular doom and gloom”.

Other fans predicted which Emmerdale couple’s would be most likely to get married, with u/RachaelL82 wrote: “Gail and Ryan would be a good one. Another (wild) Dingle wedding”. They also suggested that one couple might be hearing wedding bells after this year: “There might be an engagement (Liam and Chas at the end of the year, any sooner is too soon).”

Liam and Chas were together briefly before Chas was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, after comforting Chas over Zak Dingle’s death, the pair decided they wanted to get back together. At the time, Liam was dating former Coronation Street actress Paula Lane’s character Ella Forster but split up with her to pursue Chas.
