Coronation Street’s Roy’s secret child ‘revealed’ in DNA twist – and fans know her well

Coronation Street fans are convinced that Roy Cropper has a secret love child – and they think they know who it is

Coronation Street fans are convinced that Roy Cropper has a secret offspring, and they believe they’ve figured out who it is. The much-loved character, portrayed by David Neilson, first appeared on the scene in 1995 as Deirdre Barlow’s (Anne Kirkbride) neighbour in a block of flats, quickly winning over viewers.

Throughout his 29-year tenure on the popular soap, the cafe owner has been central to numerous significant storylines. His marriage to Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) stands out among these. The couple, who became one of television’s most cherished pairs, got together in the late nineties.

Roy and Hayley, who never had children, remained together until Hayley’s tragic death in 2014. Fans will remember her diagnosis of terminal pancreatic cancer and her heartbreaking death, with Roy at her side, after consuming a fatal mix of drugs, reports Lancs Live.

However, fans now suspect that Roy may have an unknown child. Even more intriguingly, according to viewers, this estranged child is a familiar face. This week on the cobbles, Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) went to court for the murder of Joel Deering (Calum Lill).

The proceedings took a dramatic turn though when Lauren’s former cellmate Brie Benson (Jessica Ellis) stirred up trouble in court. Corrie fans have been left stunned by a wild theory involving Roy and Brie, suggesting that the courtroom shocker is just the beginning.

Speculations soar on social media with one fan noting on a Coronation Street fan group: “The woman from the mum unit in prison in the courtroom is so annoying! Get her gone.” Echoing suspicions, another fan pondered: “Does anyone else think she looks like Roy? His long-lost daughter? .”

With some seeing a family resemblance, a third person posted: “I can see the resemblance.” And in agreement, yet another chimed in: “We don’t know what our Roy got up to back in the day! He could have been a dirty dog..”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
