Things are going from bad to worse for David in the ITV soap and actor Jack P Shepherd has been sharing more details
David Platt is left ‘in a real mess’ in upcoming Coronation Street scenes as his wife Shona goes missing in what appears to be a shock revenge plan.
Fans of the ITV soap know that following the exit of his mum Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth for 50 years, things are about to get a lot more intense and dramatic for the Platt clan, seemingly because David is being sought out for stealing money belonging to criminal Harvey Gaskell.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, producer Kate Brooks was recently quick to confirm that it “goes to pot” for the iconic soap family following the matriarch’s exit, as she explained: “David has stolen a big old bag of cash from Harvey, which was the wrong move. He’s done it for the house and the family, but this escalates massively…”
It’s now been revealed that after David the dog was ran over, in Corrie scenes to be aired next week, Shona leaves the house, unaware that a man in a van is watching her as the van drives off at high speed. Shona’s mobile phone lies in the gutter. In the back of the van, Shona bangs on doors and shouts for help, but nobody hears her.
Meanwhile, David calls in the café and is shocked to discover Shona didn’t show up for work. David calls at the police station in a panic and tells Kit that first the dog was run over and now Shona has gone missing and he suspects Harvey is behind it. Later, David asserts that he’ll find somewhere else to stay as Harvey’s more likely to come after him. David then calls at Nick Tilsley’s flat and admits that unless he can come up with the money for Harvey, his whole family is in danger.
Trying to put an end to what he believes is Harvey’s reign or terror and realising that the only way he can raise the cash to pay Harvey back is to get rid of the house, David meets up with Andy Garland, who he met in prison, and tells him he desperately needs a favour.
Asked if David is panicking about what he’s got himself into with Harvey, his debt, the Radcliffe brothers, and how he’s going to get out of it the mess he’s in, Jack P Shepherd shared: “When the dog was run over David knew that was a deliberate threat, there’s then an attack on the house, Shona goes missing and it feels the threats are ramping up.
“They’re not just meeting David in dark alleys anymore, they’re physically hurting members of his family. When it becomes general conversation on the street that Mason was killed by one of his brothers, who are the two that are after David, he really starts to panic.”
Corrie fans will see David seek advice from DC Kit Green but with his history with Shona, does he trust him? “He comes clean to Kit over stealing the money and asks him to go have a word with Harvey about the threats but of course Harvey denies having anything to do with it,” Jack revealed.
“David doesn’t really trust Kit, he doesn’t particularly like him after he went after his wife but he’s out of options. He’s got himself in a real mess and he doesn’t know how he’s going to get out of this.”
While things are getting too much for David, Jack’s loving playing his character once again finding himself on the wrong side of the law. When it’s high octane and you’re moving from one explosive story to the next, possibly with stunts, it’s fun,” the soap star said.
“The Platts are all involved too which I love and as always each of the siblings want to know what’s going on in each others’ lives. It’s nice when there’s so much playing out within the family. It’s been really great that Gail’s exit has sparked up all these new problems for the Platts.”
