Coronation Street fans think they’ve ‘missed an episode’ as Carla Connor and Lisa Swain spark questions

Their relationship seemingly moved to the next level in the ITV soap but fans had questions

Coronation Street fans have wondered if they’d ‘missed an episode’ as Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain’s relationship seemingly moved to the next level.

Fans of the ITV soap were delighted last year when Carla and Lisa finally gave into their feelings after months of growing closer to one another. But then, the year got off to a worrying start for Carla as she was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with sepsis.

Doctors later confirmed that the infection had badly damaged her kidney, and it’s since been confirmed she’ll need a transplant seven years after she last faced one. While scared for her future, Carla has made it clear she doesn’t want her family to be donors.

However, with Carla’s health still in decline, her nephew Bobby was seen thinking that his dad Rob Donovan could be the one to help. As fans know, Rob is the younger brother of Carla and former fiancé of Tracy Barlow, and is currently serving time behind bars following the 2014 murder of Tina McIntyre.

Last week, Carla was seen paying her brother a visit. Despite his offer, Carla told Rob that she doesn’t trust him and thinks “he’s up to something”. Once back at the hospital, Carla told Lisa and Bobby she still “doesn’t buy” Rob’s act, but said if he’s really serious about giving her a kidney then she won’t stop him from doing the test to see if he’s compatible.

She then later discovered that she’d have to go private if she wanted her jailed brother to be her donor. Due to the costs involved with keeping a prisoner in hospital, the transplant was likely to cost £100,000 in total.

Carla ended up confronting Jenny Connor and Daisy Midgeley as she reminded them of the cash stolen by late serial killer Stephen Reid, which they then took after his death. The Underworld boss informed them that it was time to either pay their debt in full or face the music with the police. There was some joy though as Betsy Swain offered to lend Carla £50,000 – half of what she needed – from the money that her late mum, Becky, left her in her will.

It was then during Monday night’s (January 20) Corrie that Carla finally returned home from hospital and Lisa promised her she’s going to look after her. And it didn’t take fans long to get emotional over the comforting scenes.

@SwarlaBrasil shared: “The way Carla looks at her. Everything Carla has always deserved. Someone to love her the way Lisa loves her. #Swarla #corrie.” @thatsmypeachx added: “also the fact that Lisa booked a day off work to make sure the dialysis machine was all set up and look after carla knowing she’d be scared/worried makes me weep #swarla #corrie.”

Others, however, were wondering if they missed the moment Lisa seemingly permanently moved into Carla’s flat and wanted to find a missing character.

@TVMusings22 said: “Sorry #corrie when did Lisa move in to Carla’s I must’ve missed that episode. I love a offscreen couple – you can really get behind these major developments and milestones in their relationship.” @NicolaHynes1 replied: “Thats what i picked up too. I’m like it was only temp when did it become permanent.”

@sacredgem83 asked: “So if Lisa & Betsy have properly (offscreen) moved in with Carla & this isn’t some tale about how long it takes to find a plumber…. They will need to cast the Swain cat… right? #Swarla #Corrie.” @Chip14Kc echoed: “So if Lisa and Betsy moved in… Where’s the cat?! #swarla.” @Cerys_Emily_x declared: “LISA HAS OFFICIALLY MOVED IN WITH CARLA #swarla #corrie.”
