Claire Sweeney has been talking about her storyline with Cassie and Ken Barlow
Coronation Street fan think they know what should be next for Cassie Plummer as the star who plays her, Claire Sweeney, teased possible wedding bells.
As fans of the ITV soap know, Claire joined the Corrie cast as Cassie the daughter of Evelyn Plummer and long-lost mum of Tyrone Dobbs, back in Spring 2023.
She made her debut after Cassie tracked down her mum to the street, but when Evelyn spotted her, she ignored her. Later Evelyn received a call and was seen hurrying into A&E reception, explaining that her daughter had been admitted as an emergency after she overdosed.
In more recent months, Cassie has found herself in the fold at No.1 Coronation Street, having become Ken’s carer after he fell down the stairs and fractured his pelvis. But when he eventually decided it was time to let her go, Cassie took drastic action and was seen spiking Ken’s drinks.
Things then took a dramatic turn when Ken was rushed to hospital, but Cassie escaped when Tracy Barlow was blamed for mixing up Ken’s medication which she dropped on the floor. Cassie has since changed to spiking the Weatherfield stalwart with antihistamines while she continues to get closer to him.
Now, Claire has teased possible wedding bells for Cassie and Ken. Speaking to Inside Soap, the soap star was asked if she could see Cassie going all the way and marrying Ken, to which she replied: “Wouldn’t that be fabulous? I would love that! Doesn’t Bill Roache look great? Like when we were going to Porto – in his white suit and hat.”
She continued: “I haven’t seen a wedding in a script but imagine if she becomes the new Mrs Ken Barlow and got the house – and she’d be Tracy’s mum! I don’t think she’s actually got those intentions with Ken, it’s genuine that she loves being with him, it’s an alliance – but it’s actually Steve who she wants.”
Taking to Instagram with a look at her interview, Claire wrote on Instagram: “Cassie is up to all sorts of mischief at the moment!!!” And some fans don’t think it’s Ken she should be marrying and agrees her heart should be with Steve.
