Coronation Street viewers were left distracted during Wednesday’s episode as they recognised a familiar face, but from what soap?
On Wednesday’s instalment of Coronation Street, eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot a familiar face during scenes involving Lauren Bolton.
A newcomer named Brie, portrayed by 37-year-old Jessica Ellis, made her entrance on the scene, promising to ruffle some feathers in Lauren’s life.
The pair, who are both staying in the mother-and-baby unit with their children, didn’t take long to butt heads, setting the stage for heightened tension involving the young mother.
Viewers were thrilled to see actress Jessica Ellis, fondly remembered for her portrayal of Tegan Lomax in Hollyoaks. Jessica graced the set of the popular Channel 4 soap from 2013 to 2018, racking up a total count of 398 episodes.
Brie appeared in the same mother and baby unit as Lauren Bolton, and made a wild accusation at the latter’s trial
With past roles in other soaps including EastEnders in 2011 and a singular episode of Doctors that same year, Jessica is well-versed in drama.
As the episode unfolded, Corrie fans flocked to social media to express their excitement seeing Brie, recognising Jessica Ellis as Tegan from Hollyoaks. One fan shouted out: “TEGAN,” and another couldn’t contain themselves, posting: “ITS TEGAN,” reports Lancs Live.
Another viewer chimed in with a cheerful: “Yayyy! Tegan Lomax. Another one off Hollyoaks,” while someone else echoed with a familiar: “Teagan Lomax.”

And theres more for the viewers to be surprised about as its not just Brie connected to Lauren’s storyline that has a recognized actor. Coronation Street has also secured the talent of Samuel James, previously seen on BBC One’s EastEnders playing Jimmie Broome and appearing as Garth Stubbs in Birds of a Feather, according to the Mirror.
According to The Sun, Samuel is poised to land a role on Coronation Street as solicitor Steven Poyser, who will become integral to a crucial legal storyline. A close source informed the tabloid: “Samuel will appear on screen for a number of episodes in a guest role as Lauren’s fate is finally revealed.”
On another front, Max Turner is gearing up to bow out of the long-running ITV drama with actor Paddy Bever opting to depart from the show. Having completed filming his final scenes, fans should brace themselves for Max’s on-screen farewell expected to come this spring.

This exit has been on the cards since March of the previous year when Paddy Bever let the producers know about his intention to move on, setting in motion the creation of an impactful send-off for his character amidst teeming issues within the Platt family.
Sharing his thoughts with The Mirror, he disclosed: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities.”
“I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way. It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.”
