EastEnders viewers think Cindy Beale is covering up the true events of Christmas and who really attacked her following Lauren Branning being in the frame with police

There could be a double twist looming on EastEnders as Cindy Beale’s attack took a new turn.

After she woke from her coma, the police questioned her over the assault that left her life hanging in the balance. On Christmas Day she was hit over the head with a shovel and left for dead by a mystery suspect.

Those in the frame include her own children, her partner, her ex and her fling, as well as her love rival and her mother-in-law. As fans continue to share their theories over who the attacker is, they will have to wait until the big reveal next month.

That said, Cindy claimed to have known the truth this week, despite the fact she was attacked from behind and can’t have seen the attacker. That said fans learned on Tuesday that someone had come across Cindy’s lifeless body and turned her over before fleeing.

Cindy initially suggested she had no idea what had happened to her or what had happened prior to the attack, begging son Peter Beale to tell her everything. So when she suddenly had recalled something and accused Peter’s pregnant partner Lauren Branning of attacking her, leading to her arrest, it certainly sparked suspicions.

Viewers are convinced Cindy is up to no good. Not only do they believe that Cindy is faking her amnesia and she does remember everything, but they also believe she might know who really attacked her.

Whether she does or not, some fans think she’s targeting Lauren and getting her in trouble while knowing she is innocent. Of course there’s every chance Cindy really did see Lauren before losing consciousness, but fans can’t help but wonder if she’s targeting her as revenge.

One viewer posted on X: “It wasn’t Lauren who attacked Cindy, she’s saying that just because she exposed her in the pub.” Another said: “Cindy is only saying it was Lauren to get back at her.”

Others shared their theories on who really attacked Cindy with one fan writing: “Ian attacked Cindy.” Another viewer posted: “Lauren’s been arrested I don’t believe she attacked Cindy … Anna is looking guilty,” while a further comment read: “I’m still convinced it’s Kojo who attacked Cindy. It’s always someone outside the list of suspects. Also he’s the least obvious out of everyone.”
