Little Bertie Osbourne (Rufus Morgan-Smith)’s birthday party quickly descends into chaos in upcoming Coronation Street episodes, when a jealous Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) gets drunk and ends up injuring her rival, Daisy Midgley (Charlotte Jordan). A trip to hospital then leads to a massive revelation with huge consequences.
Bethany is irritated from the outset of the birthday party because Bertie insists on sitting on Daisy’s lap.
As Daniel (Rob Mallard)’s fiancee, Bethany is upset that the little boy is so clingy with Daniel’s ex and it heightens the insecurity she feels whenever Daisy’s around and the unsettling feeling that Daniel would rather be with her.
Even worse, she soon sees Daniel and Daisy whispering together. What she doesn’t know is that Bertie has seen Cassie (Claire Sweeney) putting drugs in Ken (William Roache)’s tea, and he’s told Daisy. She quickly passes on the information to Daniel.
Obviously Daniel is concerned to hear that Cassie might be poisoning his dad, but Bethany gets the wrong end of the stick and thinks Daisy and Daniel have secrets. Which of course they do, having slept together only recently.
Bethany hits the Prosecco hard and is soon drunk. As everyone gets ready for the cake to be cut, Bethany is legless and stumbling and Daisy makes a move to help her. Bethany furiously pushes her away – and Daisy falls.
Daisy has recently discovered she’s pregnant, and she knows the father is either Daniel or Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), both of whom she slept with within a short space of time. Worried for the baby, she pretends her ankle is hurt and Daniel offers to drive her to A&E.
Kit is already at the hospital. Daisy is concerned about having an X-ray, give that she’s pregnant, but the nurse reassures her that it’s perfectly safe.
Daniel and Kit both overhear the nurse’s words – and as they discover that Daisy is pregnant, each of them thinks that he must be the father.
Daisy is mortified, knowing that she has a huge amount of explaining to do now that her secret is out.
How will she explain what’s happened to both Kit and Daniel? And how will they take the news that either of them could be the father of her baby?
