The dream team are back!
Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has confirmed that Ste Hay will be given an exciting opportunity by his former boss Tony Hutchinson next week.
Tony has had a challenging few months, with his and Diane’s divorce, his new relationship with Marie, and the discovery that Diane had been covering up their son Ro’s drinking problem.
After Ro ended up in hospital on New Year’s Eve, Tony decided that they should both move in with Marie and the Lomaxes – but this means that Ro is now living with his bully Arlo.
But during this time, Tony acquired the lease to the McQueens’ house and made plans to reopen his former restaurant, The Hutch.
Financial struggles during the pandemic meant that the business was forced to close in 2022, but The Hutch will be making a comeback and will reopen in next week’s episodes.
In scenes that will air on Tuesday, January 14, Tony prepares for The Hutch’s grand opening, but he panics when his chef walks out on him at the last minute.
When Ste walks into the restaurant, Tony sees this as fate and he asks his former employee to be the new chef.
It has also been a difficult time for Ste, who was left in a coma during the show’s missing year after being in the car explosion that killed his husband James.
Ste struggled to adapt to life without his partner and he suffered from psychosis, becoming convinced that James was still alive and being held captive by Rex.
Since receiving treatment for his condition, Ste has been making good progress in his recovery – but he is hesitant about Tony’s offer and is concerned that he isn’t ready for full-time employment again.
However, Tony manages to convince him other wise and Ste eventually accepts the job, with the pair reunited for The Hutch’s new chapter.
This change was previously hinted at in the show’s New Year trailer, with footage showing Tony cutting the ribbon on his new premises, with Ste standing proudly by his side.
“That’s what family is really about, isn’t it?” Ste says to Tony in another clip. “Supporting each other.”
Tony then responds: “We might have had disagreements, but we’ll always have each other’s backs.”
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
