ITV Coronation Street Rovers Return’s new owner ‘revealed’ – and it’s unexpected resident

Coronation Street’s Rovers Return has been a staple of the soap since 1964 and has seen a number of famous faces man the bar

Coronation Street fans have discovered who the new owner of the Rovers Return might be, and it’s a face they’ll recognise. The iconic pub is one of the most famous in all of soapland, with a rich history spanning the soap’s 65-year run. Over time, we’ve seen many characters take their place behind the legendary bar, from soap stalwarts like Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) and Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard), to newcomers like Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).

At present, Carla Connor (Alison King) owns the pub after Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy used stolen money from Carla’s factory to purchase it during a financial crisis. When Carla discovered this, she was livid but decided not to report Daisy and Jenny, instead claiming ownership of the Rovers as it had been bought with her money.

However, fans are now convinced that the pub is set to change hands once again. Recently on the cobbles, Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) shocked viewers when she began poisoning Ken Barlow (Will Roache). Their friendship developed when Ken required care following a fall and injury, reports Lancs Live.

Coronation Street devotees believe that Cassie, after charming her way into Ken Barlow’s confidence, may have a crafty plan to snatch the Rovers Return from under everyone’s noses using Ken’s windfall. Ken confided in Cassie about bagging £50k in premium bonds, prompting Cassie to sweet-talk him into splashing out on an extravagant getaway, with hints that she’d be willing to keep him company.

As suspicions grow among the neighbours about Cassie’s real intentions, especially as she has been secretly medicating Ken, speculation is rife online about her potential next move.

On social media platform X, one user speculated: “Imagine Cassie convinces Ken to use his premium bond money on buying the Rovers and then Cassie actually ends up as the landlady, what a mega turn of events that would be if she wasn’t in recovery.”

The theory has gathered momentum, with fans chiming in with their thoughts, including one hopeful viewer writing: “Cassie as landlady of the Rovers – PLEASEEEE, we need it.” Another added to the chorus of support, saying: “I genuinely think it would make for great TV it would be so good.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
