Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans will be hit with another schedule change this week as the two beloved soap operas are facing a shake-up due to the FA Cup
Coronation Street and Emmerdale viewers are in for another schedule reshuffle this week on ITV.
The Aston Villa vs West Ham FA Cup match on Friday (January 10) will push Emmerdale to an earlier slot of 7pm, while Corrie will air at 9pm the night before on Thursday (January 9) in a huge shake-up.
The Coronation Street episode summary for Thursday reveals: “Bobby visits Rob to persuade him to donate a kidney to Carla, Dev proposes to Bernie again and David continues to distrust Shona. Elsewhere, Abi accuses Toyah of abducting Alfie, and Evelyn bids farewell to friends as she departs for university.”
Meanwhile, the Emmerdale synopsis for Friday teases: “Negativity surfaces, boundaries are crossed and Rhona is at breaking point.” This week, Corrie fans will witness the much-awaited return of Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis). Currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan), Rob will be visited by his son Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll).
Carla Connor’s (Alison King) world crumbles when she learns that her kidney damage is severe and she needs a transplant. Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and Bobby are shocked by the news, reports Lancs Live.
Ryan offers to donate a kidney if he’s a match, but Carla refuses and wonders where Bobby has disappeared to.

Viewers were on the edge of their seats as Bobby made his way out of a taxi and into Highfield Prison, where he’s set to confront Rob in the visiting room with a life-changing request. Bobby’s there to convince Rob to donate a kidney to Carla, but how will Rob take the news?
Meanwhile, Corrie’s fresh head honcho Kate Brooks dropped some juicy details about Rob’s return: “We last left Rob languishing in prison. But he comes back to the show, and we think he might be a reformed character. We think he’s seen the error of his ways, whether that’s the case or not, I don’t know.”
