The Coronation Street star has become the fifth star set to leave the cobbles in recent weeks
Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan, who plays barmaid Daisy Midgeley, has quit the popular ITV soap and is expected to leave the series later this year, it has been reported.
Charlotte first joined the cast of the soap in 2020, but has announced that after four years she has decided to ‘explore other opportunities’, the Mirror reports.
In a statement, Charlotte said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.” She is yet to announce the news or post a statement on her social media profiles.
A source also told The Sun :”Charlotte has loved her time on the cobbles but is young, ambitious and hungry to see what else is out there for her.”
During her time on the cobbles, Charlotte’s character Daisy has been central to a blackmail plot, and was stalked by Justin Rutherford, which culminated in Daisy and Ryan being the victims of an acid attack. Both the Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International supported the production team when the scenes were filmed.
Following the New Year departure of actress Helen Worth, who played the beloved Gail for 50 years, four more actors are due to leave in 2025.
Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker, announced on Monday night (January 6) he was being axed from the show after 14 years on screens.
Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, and Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie Webster, are all set to leave in the coming months, while Luca Toolan, who played Mason Radcliffe, has already departed the show.
It comes just weeks after Coronation Street bosses confirmed exits to come in 2025 that’ll cause ‘shockwaves’. Kate Brooks who was announced back in March as Corrie’s new producer.
She previously told the Manchester Evening News: “There are a few exits this year, and some unexpected ones that will send shockwaves,” she teased. “People might not expect the exits, but there are a few…”
