Actress Sair Khan has been back filming for the ITV soap after taking maternity leave for the birth of her first child

Coronation Street star Sair Khan has given another glimpse at her return to the cobbles after months away. The actress has been back filming for the ITV soap after taking maternity leave for the birth of her first child.

Sair, who is known for playing Weatherfield’s Alya Nazir, welcomed a son with her partner Nathan Chilton after a 22-hour labour which she described as an “absolute rollercoaster” back in April.

Shortly before she announced the birth of her baby boy, Corrie fans saw her character leave Weatherfield to pursue a job opportunity in Dublin, but before she left she and her boss Adam Barlow. played by Sam Robertson, getting close.

But soon, Sair will be back as Alya. She confirmed the news back in September when she took to her Instagram Story to share a picture of her script as she prepared to return to the iconic set. She captioned the post: “I am Backstreet.”

She was then later seen being reunited with Dee-Dee Bailey co-star Channique Sterling-Brown as they got together for the new snap, reportedly taken to mark Helen Worth’s exit after five decades playing Gail Platt.

Channique shared a selfie to her Instagram story of them both preparing for the snap, writing: “Bailey and Nazir reunited for @coronationstreet picture day,” with Luca Toolan (Mason Radcliffe), Rob Mallard (Daniel Osbourne) and Vinta Morgan (Ronnie Bailey) seen smiling behind them.

Sair then shared her own snap of herself and Channique posing for the camera, writing: “Bailey and Nazir back in business @coronationstreet,” after viewers saw the pair teaming up for work at Adam’s solicitor’s office.

Now, the 36-year-old has shared a little life update with fans on social media which has included a glimpse at her Corrie return as she posed in her soap dressing room in her character’s outfir. She was also seen enjoying some time away from the Trafford-based set with her co-stars Channique and Charlotte Jordan (Daisy Midgeley).

Sair also shared pictures of some of the sweet moment’s she’s spent with her baby son as she wrote alongside the post: “Alya’s costume, Corrie girlies, Finding Nemo, Boucle forever, Apple Orchard, Brown girl Autumn, Zero trick or treaters, at this point a book is a mere accessory, timing the nap badly= an hour sat stationary in the car, back at it @davidlloydmanchester.”

Former Corrie co-star Lisa George was among the first to respond to the post, writing: “And she’s back.” Her friends, fans and followers were also quick to comment. @jordsdanx said: “Beautiful girlie.” @sydney_davis19852024 echoed: “Beautiful.” @jmmitch85 wrote: “Lovely pics Sair.” @rushyi9 added: “Looking beautiful as always Sair.”
